In the Forest Medow PART 1 Read Preface

Ice woke up the next day still tiered and looked around her room. She was wearing a light blue night gown that used to be her moms. She turned and picked up a picture of her parents up and looked at it. “I wish you two were still here,” she said to the picture. Her parents had been in a terrible car accident five years before and never made it. She put the picture down and got dressed in what she wore the night before. She walked down stairs and to the living room. “Hello Ice,” said her Aunt.
“Oh hi,” Ice said. She looked at her aunt. After her parents died nobody wanted her so she lived alone and her family will take turns bringing her things she needs. Then last night there was that boy James. Where was he from? Was he nice all of the time or just the first time you met him?
“Ice are you listening to me?” her Aunt asked.
Ice shook her head, “sorry what did you say.”
Her Aunt sighed and said, “I brought you food and you school supplies for the new year.” With that her Aunt left and Ice ran outside and towards the meadow to see if she can find were James went. It was no use the scents from the night before had faded. She sat down and cried. “They always run after they find out I am an orphan,” she said and looked at the sky, “Will this end the same way?”
“No, it won’t end that way I promise,” the voice was familiar to her and so Ice turned and there at the edge of the meadow was James. He smiled and walked over and sat next to her. She rubbed the tears away from her eyes and smiled. “So you don’t have a mom and dad?” he said as he looked at her.
Ice sighed and replied, “No they died five years ago in a car accident and none of my other family wanted to take me in.” When she got done talking he wrapped his arms around her and held her close.
“I lost my mom three years ago and my dad is still depressed but if you want I will be there for you talk to.” He told her and didn’t let go. She felt safer then she had felt in the last five years and happy that she didn’t have to suffer in silence anymore.
She looked at a tree and shivered because there was a figure sitting in a tree watching them. She pulled away and stood up and he watched her. “Run,” she told him without looking away from the tree.
He jumped up and looked at her, “no not without you.” He grabbed her and ran as fast as he could back toward his camp and she could smell a little kid and an adult male and she knew this would be a disaster if the guy that was fallowing them got into the camp. She knew because the guy was a shape shifter and was the reason her parents got in the crash. He had changed into a deer and got in front of a car causing the car to swerve and hit into her parents car.
“NO,” she said as she pulled away and jump changing into a grey wolf and jumped at the guy who also changed into a wolf. They guy was bigger than her but he was on her parents land and she would defend it with her life. All James could do was keep running as she fought the guy. After a few minutes James ran back a lion behind him. She backed away as the lion attacked the wolf and she blacked out before the fight was over.
When she woke up it was dark and she was at home and she smelt pizza. So she got up still sore and went downstairs. She went into the kitchen and stopped surprised. James was bending over the stove making the meat for pizza. She moved towards him as he turned to get a bowl for the meat and saw her. He smiles and said, “hi so how long have you been up?”
She looked at him and replied, “Not long.” She walked over and wrapped her arms around him and he smiled and wrapped his arms around her and held her. They stood like that until there was a knock on the front door and then the door opened and she turned when she heard a gasp. Standing in the doorway of the kitchen was her Aunt and she did not look to happy.
“Um…hi,” Ice said.
“Who is this?” her aunt asked.
James bowed, “my name is James. I helped Ice and brought her home now I will leave. See you tomorrow Ice.” He left Ice with her Aunt which was not a good idea. Her Aunt walked over and slapped her after the door closed.
“Look you have no right to make my rules now leave.” Ice said and glared at her Aunt. Her Aunt left her there and she sat and cried. This was bad her Aunt had scared away the only person who knows her that is not family. Plus who was that lion?
I sat and cried for about half an hour. Then I felt someone pull me into their arms. I looked to see who it was. It was James. “Are you alright?”
“You didn’t leave?” Ice asked. James shook his head no. He held me for another half hour. After that I finally stopped crying. “James who was the lion?”
“That was my dad.” He said sounding proud. Both of them got up and walked hand and hand into the living room. The pizza completely forgotten. They sat on the couch. James fell asleep and Ice watched him. After ten minutes she got up and walked around. She looked out the window and at the sky. She walked outside and to the garage where her motorcycle is. She smiled and sat on the seat of the bike. James walked out and smiled.
“So that is how you get to school?” James asked her.
Ice smiled proudly, “yes. Want to take a ride? You can drive.” So with that she got the keys and they both got on the bike. They drove out and threw the forest to the road. Ice was happy because she finally had someone who cared. They got back to the house at nine O’clock. James didn’t want to leave Ice. So he stayed for dinner and they watched a movie. Around eleven there was a knock on the door. Ice answered and there was a guy who looked a lot like James. “H-h-hello,” Ice stuttered.
The guy smiled and asked, “Is James here?”
“Ya just hold on.” She said and started to walk away then stopped. “You can come in if you want.” He stepped in and she went into the living room. “James someone is at the door for you.”
James got up and they walked back to the door. James said, “hey dad.” Ice was stunned James’ dad? The guy who saved her life? She pushed past them and outside knowing James was leaving. School started tomorrow and as usual she had no friends to talk to. She ran into the meadow and sat in the middle. This is going to be a bad year to. She hadn’t heard that she had been fallowed. James and his dad watched her. Ice looked at the sky, “Sadness fallows I know it does.” She got up at the sound of a growl. “Come out now!” She called. Out of the forest walked the guy form before.
They both growled and changed. Ice into a bangle tiger and the guy into a wolf. Ice’s animal was bigger this time. He attacked her and they fought. Ice eventually got him pinned and said in her head, Now leave or die. She stepped back and he got up and ran off. She changed back and turned around. Ice saw James and his dad. She blushed and James walked over. He hugged her and she hugged back.
James and his dad took Ice back to her house. They said bye and James said to meet him outside the school. She went to bed smiling. Ice got in her mom’s old night gown. She went to sleep in ten minutes hoping that tomorrow would bring happiness.
