Chapter 1
Dry Tears...
“Kiyoko, wait up,” shouted a voice from the distance. I slightly turned my head, and glanced at the blonde guy running towards me. I quickly looked back realizing who it was.
“Kiyoko! Hey, I want to-“, he skidded to a halt.
“Leave her alone, Brandon,” my friend, Cloe snapped, interrupting.
“Yah! How dare you talk to her after what you did,” Jessica backed me up. I had my best friends surround me as a shield guarding me from my new Ex-boyfriend.
Brandon stood still, his lips slowly mouthing a word I couldn’t figure out. I jolted my head back again, not trying to care. My friends comforted me as we walked away. They whispered among themselves, casting scowls Brandon’s way, until we were far enough from him.
“It’s ok, he’s not worth it,” Jin said reassuring me. I only nodded, playing the word Brandon tried to get to me in my mind again. It looked like he said, “I’m sorry.” But maybe it was just a trap, another trap I would just fall for all over again. We walked quiet a distance from the school. I kept my head down; the others whispered only every few minuets. I drowned out their words; I was too depressed to hear what they would say. Off in the distance I heard another familiar voice call out.
“Hey emo kid, go cry with your sissy girls and leave us alone,” a guy said.
I looked up to see Jack, Brandon’s close friend, stick his tongue out and laugh at his comment. His friends laughed with, giving him back slaps and knuckle pounds.
“Only immature babies stick their tongues out, Jack,” Jin called sarcastically. The crowd of boys grew quiet, and some shouted, “Oh!” and “Burn”. Amongst the crowd I saw Brandon. He hung his head low, letting his blonde hair cover his ocean blue eyes. He didn’t laugh with the rest of his crew, but instead was silent. I looked away again, not giving them what they wanted.
Suddenly Jack came over slouching like normal, with his arms deep in his pockets. I slowly looked up into his dark brown eyes. He seemed to calm down, and seriously look into my jade green eyes. I let a slight blush cross my cheeks. My friends backed away towards the boys, giving me some space. I didn’t know why they abandoned me; they were supposed to help me not leave me alone. He raised his hand form his pocket and lifted my chin up. I looked down, yanking his hand away.
“You’re a tough one, eh,” he asked with pleasure of my action. I backed away not wanting anything to do with my Ex’s friend.
He moved closer, and whispered into my ear, slowly forming the words.
“I know Brandon was a jerk to dump you, and I don’t know why he would do such a horrible thing to some one like you. But how about you ignore him and go out with me, I won’t screw up like he did.”
I couldn’t believe he would say something like that about his best friend. I angrily starred into his eyes, trying to find any trace of fear or lying. His eyes glinted with pleasure; a smile crept up his face. I backed away, and took a stance.
“No way would I go out with the likes of you,” especially since I just got dumped yesterday by your best friend,” I nearly shouted. I then heard Jack’s foot steps go farther away from me, as they stood still.
“We’ll meet again, Kiyoko. And you’ll regret what you said,” Jack smiled sheepishly, walking away with his crew…
I let out a tear, one with no meaning, no feeling. A tear that slowly rolled down my pale cheek, as my depression started all over again. I hung my head low, letting the dry tear fall down my face, and plop in slow motion on the hard cement. Just one jerk after another in my life, I thought...
