Does he like me? I am confused :(

Hrmm, ok so there is this one guy and I am not sure if he likes me. He does some things that may seem like it, but I'm just too scared to try. I saw people using this to help them see from other people's perspectives so maybe this will help me? If I get enough views that say he seems to like me, I'll try I guess x3 Ok, here goes.

    Towards the end of last year, he would try and sit next to me but talk to other people around him.

    Last year (according to a friend) and this year (according to me), I always found that he interrupted me or cut into my conversations and talked to me,

    Sometimes I think he likes me, but I never get compliments from him. I always see him complimenting all these other girls except for me. (I'm not sure if this plays onto trying to get me jealous?)

    BUT, he is ALWAYS nice to me. And I guess he kind of treats me differently from other girls. But, I also get ignored whenever his friends are around.

    Last year, when I was putting face paint on this girl for a Pep Rally, he asked me to draw a star on his cheek. When another girl offered to do so he said no.

    Whenever I talk to him we always start at each other straight in the eye, but it seems like I can't look away sometimes.

    I don't catch him staring at me much. But the two times I did, it was as if he held my gaze for a little while. I wasn't sure if he was smiling or staring cause he liked me or cause he was high. :/

    One, his friend tried to steal a chocolate from me when I didn't see & he got it from him and gave it to me w/ a kind of sorry sounding voice saying "Look, _ took it." And his friend got mad at him.

    Should I try harder and maybe flirt back or start some conversations?
