Goodbye Part 3
Chapter 1
Cheerleading Practice
Her mom's red sports car drove up into a parking space behind the tall, big gym where she had practice. "Thanks, mom!" She said, hopping off the seat, giving her mother a quick kiss on the cheek and grabbing her bag. She sprinted to the big doors, made of entirely glass. On it was little sign up things taped on the inside. Mostly things like, "Sign up for the weekly trial: Spirit Zone!" Or, "Calling All Gymnasts! Please Go To Balcony High, March 21st On Pennington Street!" Balcony High was this gym, but in the summer, the tiny balcony outside that gives it such a pretty name would be decorated with flowers, ribbons and sparkles. In the gym, a huge dance would go on, with a professional DJ.
And that was just the couples' place. The place where Emily had been dying to stand with..... Austin Parker. Football captain, and in her cheerleading squad. He was to DYE for. Icy blue eyes, spiked brown hair....
Amazing.
I walked down the hallway, took a right, and waved to Dave & Samantha. "Hey, Dave! Samantha!" I smiled and waved, my bracelets jingling around my wrist.
"Hey!" They called in unison. "We're just unpacking our uniforms!" Samantha called. "How bout this for the guys?" Dave asked, pulling out a silver, gold and white top with black track pants, having two silver stripes going down the side.
"Oooo." I said. It was definitely an amazing design.
"But this is better!" Sam laughed, pulling out of the cardboard box another uniform, but for girls. It was a top that went to the spot a sportsbra would. It said, "CALIFORNIAN COUGARS" In gold glitter, with a silver V behind it. The rest was white, lined with black. It had long sleeves. At the elbows, it crossed into an X.
The skirt was short since of our fast paced movements. It was gold, and silver at the tips.
"Oh my gosh, that is so cute!" I jumped up and down, clapping my hands, giggling.
"I know!" Samantha said, bringing it closer to her self, making it look like she was wearing it.
"I'm going to be late for practice. Talk after?" I asked.
"Sure." They said together.
We all began running in circles at first. "Come on, ladies! Faster! Faster!" Coach Murch yelled.
I scoffed down half of my water bottle at every break. It was endless refills.
Murch took out a hexagon. He took two six-panel mats and didn't unfold them. Instead, he set them up as if a bottomless triangle. Then, at the top, the hexagon went there. Back handsprings.
As people separated into stations, me and Jenna ran over to the Hexagon.
Jenna went first. She made a position as if sitting in a chair, put her hands like her legs would be in a pike, jumped up, and landed her hands on the spring floor. She flipped over happily.
"Coach Murch seemed pretty p.ssed off today." I laughed.
It was true. Murch was usually nice, saying things like, "A little faster! But don't pressure yourselfs!"
"Yep. I'm guessing because...." Jenna began.
"THE CALIFORNIA COUGARS!" She did a toe touch, back hand spring and back tuck as she said it, then said, "Are preforming in a week! 7 days of practice isn't enough! Or as he thinks." Jenna replied, nodding her head to Murch, who was spotting roundoff back handsprings in the other corner. "That's plenty of time to practice. I think." I giggled.
"Maybe..." Jenna paused as she rolled over the hexagon. "Maybe he wants us to win first place. Californian Cougars can totally beat Last Place Lions." Jenna said, advertising her bad joke. The Lions we're sharp as steel, always 1st place. Flordia's keepers.
CC Can beat them, Emily thought. They can if they tried.
"Well duh, we aren't practicing for nothing." I said.
"Switch!" Murch yelled.
We walked over to the tumbling station in the corner. "Or are we?" Jenna asked as we walked.
"We aren't." I laughed.
As we took our spots last in line, Jenna said, "Emily, if we don't win this, we'll be... Last Place Losers. Supreme Loosing Machine. Cheer Extreme Failures!!" She cried.
"How about after school, you can come over my house and we can practice?" I asked.
Jenna nodded, smiling.
It was her turn to run and tumble. She ran at full speed, did a roundoff, backed up to Murch and he spotted her as she did a backhandspring.
