Chapter 64: Just a small town

Brooke's POV:

I shoved the phone back in my pocket as i heard a loud cry from upstairs. I started to walk up the stairs when grandma said,

"I'll take care of Jake. I need you to get me something from the store." I sighed as she handed me a list of things.

Mlik, Butter, corn...a whole bunch of stuff. She handed me the money before walking up the stairs.

I pulled on my shoes and i opened the door and walked out closing it behind me. I was walking to the store. Not to far, just up the road. The ground was soggy from the rain earlier in the day. The grass was muddy and nasty. All the plants frowned a bit due to the huge amount of rain there was.

I kept walking up the stone way till i came to a small gate that let out into town. I pulled the the gate opening it, and walking down the side of the almost empty road.

I passed a few joggers as i kept walking, sharing glances for the shortest moment before moving on.

As i came to the small town center where all the stores were i began humming, which soon led to singing quietly to myself.

"Some people want dimand rings, so just want everything...but everything means nothing, if i ain't got you."

I walked itnto the store to see it bigger than i expected. There was a girl at the counter. Looked about my age with blond hair, in big curls resting on her shoulders.

Her eyes were on her iPod. She didn't even noticed my entrance.
The list was pretty long.

Milk
Butter
Eggs
Flour
Chicken
Bagles
Orange Juice
Corn
Apples
Limes
Baby food(For Jake)
Frozen pizza
Pasta
Mac n' Cheese
Strawberries.

I sighed and pulled a cart out, pushing it toward the milk. I'm not sure what kinds of milk she wanted. As i looked at each type of Milk, i saw a man at the corner of my eye.
He was watching, not trying to hide it at all.

I looked back at the milk placing about 3 gallons in the cart, before moving to the eggs which was not to far from the milk.

I soon saw that the man was walking towards me.

"Hello." He said giving a friendly smile. I gave a nice smile.

"You are Brooke Wicfield right?" I felt my eyes roll and i nodded.

"Yes i am."

"Well.....my daughter is a huge! Fan of yours!" He said his smile getting bigger.
I smiled and leaned against the cart a bit without pushing it forward.

"Is She?" I said a smirk on my face.

"Yes she is your biggest fan! Her birthday is two days from now and i would love it if you could come see her? She's turning 13 years old."
I was opening my mouth to tell the man no when i paused.

Just one thing...one birthday wouldn't do any harm right? Plus she's a fan, and if she knew i was in town would freak out.

I looked down at the ground beofre back at the man.
"Sure."

"Great!" He wrote down his phone number and address. I sighed as the man walked away.
"Brooke Wicfield?" I heard another voice say.
Great....Just great.
"Yes! She's here!" I heard another voice say.

I turned around to see the girl that was at the coutner walking down the aisle.

"Hi B-brooke! I am a HUGE fan of yours...and Justin." I nodded.

I turned to walk away when she followed.
"I'm Lucy, and would you mind if i ask a question?"

I stopped pushing the cart and turned to face her.
"I don't mind...go ahead."

"Are the rumors true? About you and Justin getting a divcore?"

My eyes widen. "What are you talking about?" I asked a bit concerned.

She took her phone out of the pocket of her ripped jeans and showed it to me.

'Brooke left Justin?' was the front cover story on People magazine.
