So, there's this project in my writing class. We have one whole school year to write a story. So I thought I'd share with everyone.
Please tell me what you think :)

Chapter 1

Three Red Lines

by: mandy_mae
One, two, three. I look down at my new cuts. My fingers trace the fresh blood. I look at my reflection. I see a fat and ugly girl. Her hips are so wide, her thighs are enormous. And look at her face, she's hideous.
That girl is Scarlette Harris. That girl is me.
I drop the razor, and step on the scale. 92 lbs. Thats 2 pounds heavier than Sunday. I can't get fatter. I need to be skinnier.
My parents think I need help. They just don't understand. They always say I should be happy with my life.
Well, just because I live in a huge house, with all the money I could possibly have, doesn't mean I enjoy it. Benjamin and Ella, my parents, are probably the most stuck-up people I've ever met. But then there's Clark. God I love Clark. He means so much to me. But I'd never tell him that, he's my older brother. He's the only reason that I'm still alive.
There was a point in time when I was happy. But that was before Andy left. It hurts to think of him. My best friend.
I collect myself and step off the scale. Ugh, I hate school. It's such a waste of time. I grab an outfit. The same as always. Skinny jeans and a t-shirt with my striped gray hoodie. One last check in the mirror. I mess with my straightened black hair. Eh, guess thats as good as I can make it. So I head down the stairs.
In the kitchen, Ella is making breakfast. She gives me a plate.
Ew, it's food. She expects me to eat it?
"Scarlette, you have to eat." she says.
I just stare at her and continue to play with my food. I feel Clark nudge me.
"What?"
He was about to say something, but then stopped. "Nothing, nevermind."
I dispose of the garbage some people call delicious and make my way out the door.
"Don't think you're driving. You should know that by now." I hear Clark say.
"What, why?"
"You remember what happened last time you drove." He takes the keys from my hands and walks to the car.
No, I don't remember what happened the last time I drove. I've been trying to forget.
The car ride to school was silent except for the music softly coming from the radio. I just stare out the window and think of anything.
School, life, death, Andy. Wait, no, I don't want to think of Andy.
We arrive at school.
"Remember, I have practice after school, so you're gonna have to take the bus." Clark reminds me.
"I know, you tell me everyday."
He laughs, "Well, I know you forget sometimes. See ya."
Clark walks off, and I slowly make my way into the building. I look at up at the faces around me. I see them smiling and laughing. But they don't see me that way. They see me as the girl who walk around with her hood up and her head down.
I take my seat in homeroom as the bell rings. My teacher starts taking role.
"Meghan... Joe... Matt... Christine... Jack... Nicky... Travis... Scarlette..."
"Here." Thats the only thing I'll say when I'm at school.
The bell rings and I leave homeroom. I can hear someone coming behind me.
"Hi." I know that voice, it's Travis. Why is saying hi to me? Oh, god. Do I say anything back? This is the first time someone has actually talked to me. Fine I'll talk, but I'm not looking up.
"Uh, hi?"
"Wow, that's the first time I've actually heard you talk... you should do it more often."
I look up to see him smiling. Oh my god. I said I wouldn't look up. Damnit.
"Why uh.... why did you wanna talk to me?"
"Well, I notice how upset you seem in homeroom, so I thought I'd cheer you up."
I smiled at the fact that someone was thinking of my feelings.
Woah. Now I was smiling?
"Haha, hey you should smile more too."
I think I was starting to actually like this guy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So that was just part of it, if you want more I'll keep posting more and more as I go :)
