Chapter 1

Waking up.

I opened my eyes to find the bright sunlight shining down upon me. I was cold, damp, my clothes were torn and my head ached. I pulled myself of the ground to find I was in a pathway that no one was coming down. It was all unfamiliar and I couldn't remember what happened last night, I couldn't even remember before that. My head ached as I tried to recover memories that refused to come back, they were lost forever, and I was unable to retrieve them.
I got up carefully, my head still throbbing and walked down the street, cuddling myself as the cold was really getting to me, I noticed what seemed to be a nice, warm diner. I stepped inside, maybe they knew where I came from. I walked up to the woman at the cashier, she had her Blonde hair tied back into a messy bun, her make-up was overdone, her apron was tied too tightly and she was chewing gum.
"Hi, I was wondering.." I started but she cut me off.
"You sound too nice, tryin' to get a free meal? 'Cause hun, you ain't gonna get one 'ere," She replied and turned away from me. I tapped her on the shoulder and started again.
"Hi, I was wondering if.." She cut me off again.
"Listen hun, no free meals. Do you not understand the English? Do I have to go into Spanish? Je parle Anglais."
"That's French, and no I was wondering if you possibly knew where I came from?"
"Your mother darlin', didn't she ever have the whole baby's talk with you?" She replied with slight hint of joke in her voice.
"No, well... I don't remember. I remember my name; Blaze Jones. I'm 16, and I woke up just in the alleyway down there, and I can't remember a thing! I was hoping maybe you've seen me around?" The woman at the cashier looked me up and down and finally said.
"No, I'm sorry sweetie. But your clothes, you gotta' get out of them they're in wrecks!" She exclaimed. I was surprised that she only just noticed them.
"I have no other clothes.." I explained and then she laughed.
"Of course you don't! I wasn't expecting you too! I was just thinking, I have a waitress outfit out back, but you'll need to take the job of a waitress in that case. We have staff beds out back for the ones unable to stay in places so you'll be fine here, what do ya' say hun?" She was being so nice to me and I didn't know why. I was thrilled to have this opportunity, but I couldn't take it.
"I would love too! But, I shouldn't, you've been nice enough already,"
"It's okay sweetie, just come on!" She grabbed my arm and dragged me through the kitchen and in to a place filled with workers outfits. "Here, put this on! Lucky we have little curtains to get changed behind, eh? Otherwise the boys would never leave this place!" She laughed as she threw me the outfit. I caught it and went behind a curtain to get changed, after I had got everything on I came out and the lady looked at me up and down.
"You know what?" She said.
"Uhh, you forgot to tell me your name?" I replied trying to guess what was on her mind.
"Oh yeah! My names Linda sweet cheeks! But I was thinking, your make-ups all smudged, borrow some of mine and re-do it!" She replied giving me her make-up.
"Thank you so much, Linda. For everything, in such a short space of time!"
"Don't mention it, I'll leave you too it now! After your done go to the bedroom, it's the right side door, I'll leave a note on the bed that's yours!" She left as I sorted out my make-up. Luckily she had make-up wipes to help remove it all. I re-did my make-up so there wasn't too much on but just the right amount then got up and walked over to the right-hand side door. I opened it to reveal a large room filled with about 6 or 7 beds, none had a note on, then I saw another door and realised that maybe it was in there. I opened that door to find 3 beds inside, one which had the note on. I picked up the note and it read.
'Here's your bed, Blaze!
You'll be sharing with Lucas and Simone.
Enjoy!
Linda

P.S. You start work tomorrow and seeing as it's 11 am you can take the day easy!'
I lay down on my bed and smiled.
'At least I have a life to live now!' I thought to myself, I closed my eyes to relax when what seemed like seconds later, the door to the room was slammed closed.
"What's Linda on about? A surprise? It better not be that we have an extra shift, like the other night. Sometimes she can be so.." The voice trailed off and I didn't know why, the voice was masculine and most definitely belonged to a boy.
"The surprise is lying on the spare bed, I think.." Replied a different more girly voice.
"I guessed that," The manly voice replied. "Are you awake?"
I opened my eyes, rolled over and replied.
"No." Hoping that they both had a bit of a sense of humour. They both laughed and introduced themselves.
"I'm Lucas," The manly voice greeted.
"I'm Simone, the amazing," Laughed the girl.
"I'm Blaze, I just got here about an hour ago." I replied shaking their hands.
Lucas has long droopy hair with brilliant blue eyes, that shined brightly even in the dimmest light, he was also quite muscular, but not very.
Simone was red-headed with blue eyes again, her eyes were a darker more menacing blue, but just as beautiful a colour.
"What brings you to this hell-hole?" Asked Lucas, I couldn't tell if he was joking or not.
"It's a long story," I replied closing my eyes to try and get some rest.
"And our shifts are over, so please tell," Replied Simone listening for my reply intently.
"It's confusing," I the replied turning over.
"We can keep up," Said Lucas.
"It's boring," I tried to fall asleep but there constant prying didn't stop.
"If we start to fall asleep, we'll tell you," Simone said soothingly.
"I'll tell you tomorrow, promise. Right now I'm so tired after sleeping in the streets all night," I realised I'd given half of the story away.
"That must've hurt," Said Simone in such a calming tone, I could tell just by her voice that she was the soothing, calming type.
"Now you've got to tell us, you've left us in anticipation with the whole street thing! Come on!" I faintly heard Lucas, but when I tried to reply my mouth wouldn't open as I was already falling into a deep, most comfortable sleep.
