u search and search all day(skipping the rest of your classes in effect), but cant find her nyware. finally, ur passing the girls bathroom and hear a quiet sobbing. u go in, calling her name soflty, but it had gone silent the moment the door creaked. ur knock on the first stall, and the door falls open. hermoine is sitting on the toilet, tears streaming down her cheeks and her eyes rimmed in red. u ask if shes ok, and she tells u she just wants 2 b alone. u agree, telling her that if she wants 2 talk come find u.
then u walk 2 the gr8 hall, and spot harry and ron at the end of the table. harry looks worried, ron irritated. then he spots u, and looks relieved, waving u over.
u rush over, and demand 2 know what ron said to hermoine. he refuses 2 talk until u tell them u found her in the bathroom sobbing. then he confesses he called a know-it-all with no friends. u feel immediate sympathy for hermoine, but b4 u can go anywhere, the defense against the dark arts teacher runs in, screaming about a troll in the castle.
every1 starts heading for their dorms, but u suddenly remember hermoine, and she doesn't know about the troll! u catch harry's arm, and tell him ur going 2 find hermoine. he insists on coming with u, so u sprint 2gether in the opposite direction. but b4 u get 2 the bathroom,u hear a bloodcurdling shriek, followed by a bellowing roar. u panic and sprint ahead- and c hermoine cowering under one of the sinks, the troll getting ready to swing at her. u hav never bn in such a dangerous situation b4, and u act without thinking: u take a running leap, and land on the troll's shoulders.
it feels ur sudden added weight, and grabs u. the next thing u know. u r hanging upside down, and the troll's club is headed toward ur head.
as u squeeze ur eyes closed, u hear 2 screams of "NO!!!", and then evrything goes black.

u wake up in an unfamiliar room, on an uncomfortable bed. u gasp, remembering the troll, and struggle to sit up...only to hav ur head throb in protest. u hear, "don't move yet-ur really hurt. just stay still for a while," and turn ur head 2 c harry sitting nxt 2 ur bed, looking worried but relieved.
ur confused. "what happened?" u ask, and harry xplains about how the troll had hit u with its club, how u had passed out, and how hermoine had stopped the troll from killing u by levitating its club, then letting it fall on the troll's head.
"the teachers found us at this point. they took u immediately 2 the hospital, and we-you and i, that is-hav detention for not going to our dorms while the troll was loose." he spoke quietly,looking at u worriedly with his beautiful green eyes.
u feel a surge of outrage. "that's not fair! we were only going 2 find hermoine, so we could bring her bak 2 the dorm with us! we shouldn't get detention for that." he agrees, and your head starts pounding. "ugh. how bad are my injuries?"
"u had a cracked skull, a broken arm, and you lost a lot of blood. i was scared 4 a wile there-i thought u were going to die on me, b4 i had a chance to..." he trails off, and ur heart starts racing when he looks back at u with agonized eyes...
