Prayer_Works: 03-02-2011 at 9:58 PMThey say that the original name has too many negative connotations.
Well no duh!
HFCS is like poison to your liver, you really think we aren't going to bash it and try to get people to know what it does to you??
So...did you know, do you care, what are your thoughts?
m3rcy616: 03-03-2011 at 1:49 AMDude, HFCS IS corn sugar. Fructose is just the 'scientific' name for sugar syrup.
They're really only put it in plain english.
Also, HFCS is fine on moderation anyway, just like anything else you eat.
It just got a bad bashing, because people and the media are all freaked out about diet.
To me, it's not that big a deal.
It's probably easier to fit onto labels that way too, since corn sugar is shorter.
Gives graphic designers a bit of a break.
m3rcy616: 03-03-2011 at 1:55 AMAlso, stating it as corn sugar IS saying what it is, not disguising it.
It's a sugar syrup made with corn extract. So they're really not hiding anything.
It's just a shorter and simpler way to word it.
Prayer_Works: 03-04-2011 at 5:35 PMBut HFCS is still not good for you. Not even in moderation (and you cannot get it in moderation--it's in your drinks, your meats, your canned foods, your school lunches, your take out/order in, restaurant dishes). Regardless of what it is called, it's bad for your liver, causing cirrohsis like problems, usually only seen in alcoholic's livers! If that's what it's doing to your liver I don't want to have it in my food! And I definitely don't want it in children, in me, in my family and friends!
Heart_And_Seoul: 04-16-2011 at 12:00 AMFructose alone isn't bad for you. It's the High that does it. That's PolyFructose, which is indigestible. It destroys your liver with similar effects to that of an alcoholic.
