Chapter 1
Stumbling
Lillie's point of view
When I decided to go out riding that day, i never knew that my life would change forever. I didn't know that I was going to drag my brother and I into a century long fight between two races. But of course, all stories must start at the beginning.
"Mom, Henry and I are going out riding!" I yelled from the boot room of our three level house.
"Be careful!" She yelled from the kitchen where the smell of cookies drifted throughout the house.
I smiled, pulling my riding boots on and ruffling Henry's brunette hair. He tried to dodge it but proved to be unsuccessful. I laughed victoriously before he tackled me out the front door.
Soon, I was on my butt with my 6 foot tall, 230 pound, 17 year old brother laying beside me laughing his guts out.
Scowling at him, I dusted myself off before stalking off to the stable.
"Oh come on Lil. Don't be mad." Henry said, putting on his puppy dog look. His hazel eyes looked at me pleadingly and I shook my head, hiding my smile.
"You'll have to do better than that." I said finally. I slipped through the stable doors, and headed straight to Midnight. Her black coat shined and her equally black eyes looked at me with happiness. She always senses when we are going riding.
Henry burst through the doors and headed toward his horse, Ace. His horse is taller than my 5 foot 9 build and his shiny brown coat is almost always clean.
"Ready to go?" I asked after we were both sitting on our saddled horses with the stable doors locked.
"Ya, got any place in mind?" He asked me curiously. We have always been super close, despite out 8 year age difference.
"Oh you know I do." I said, running my hand through my dark brown hair before kicking Midnight into a steady trot.
What was waiting for me in my special place would scare yet fascinate me to no degree.
