Chapter 1

“Don’t let go!” she screamed.
Her fear rising as she felt his hands loosen there grip on hers. This had been a terrible mistake. They shouldn’t have gone. They should have stayed at Baby Dolls house that day.
“You’re slipping Baby Doll! You’re SLIPPING!!!”
A warm tear rolled down Baby Doll’s cheek. She looked up at Joey. It was as if her fear transferred through her body to his. She could see it etched across his face. He was afraid, deathly afraid of loosing her. He tried lifting her up once more. Using all his strength he managed to lift her about an inch, before all his strength finally gave way. Her right hand slipped from his grasp.
“Dammit!” he cried.
The tears were coming down faster for Baby Doll. She could no longer hide her fear.
“Let me go!” she yelled.
“What? Are you insane? I’m not letting you go Baby! I’m never letting you go!” Joey cried.
He also was unable to keep his fear hidden from Baby Doll. He loved her to much to let her go. He stared her down questioning her not with speech, but merely with his piercing blue eyes. She was staring back equally hard.
“Do it Joey. Please… You won’t be able to hold on to me any longer. Just let me fall. Let me go. I want you to let me go.”
“NO! I can’t… I can’t do it” he cried.
“Yes you can! Let me go Joey! Let me go! I want you to… I want you to. I’ll be ok. Just let me go”
He knew he wouldn’t be able to do it if it was his choice, but the look on her face. It scared him more then the idea of losing her forever. How could that be possible? He never thought anything would scare him more then the idea of losing Baby Doll. The girl he had fallen in love with. The girl he never wanted to let go or lose. He couldn’t even describe how she looked that day. When he looked down at her from the edge of the cliff, her body carelessly hanging off the side of it, the only thing keeping her from falling 100 feet down was his hands holding onto her with ever inch of strength. He saw a different Baby Doll. He had seen the one thing that scared him more then loosing her, written all over her face. There was no love. She didn’t have any love left in her he later described to a couple of friends. Joey had only seen pain. One thing he never wanted to see in Baby Doll’s eyes was pain. And that’s exactly what he saw that day, as he held her left hand tightly. He wanted that look to erase from her eyes. So with one last whisper of
“I love you” he let her go.

Five months earlier
Pop, pop, pop!
“Ouch! Dammit Tim! I’m on your freaking team! How many times must I explain that to you?”
Tim looked down “Sorry Baby Doll. You keep switching teams. I thought you had switched again.” Baby Doll pointed to her vest.
“It’s purple you dummy. Just like yours. Now pay more attention and start shooting at the other team!”
Tim shook his head then ran off for cover. Baby Doll loved playing paintball. It was her favorite game. She loved the thrill of team death match. She especially loved the satisfaction she got when aiming and shooting a target on the other team. She was the best player on her team. Everyone knew that. But being the best player wasn’t easy. Everyone was after you, dieing to defeat you and claim your spot as the best. But Baby Doll was a tough competitor. She wasn’t going to make her defeat an easy one. She ran off to a pile of hay, ducking low. Checked her ammunition and slowly peeped over the side of the hay sack. Coast was clear so far. She crouched up slowly then ran quickly over to the next cover. Pop, Pop! Darn, someone had spotted her. Now the other teams knew her location. She had to be careful. She quickly glanced over the pile and saw Joey. He was on the blue team. He was her number one enemy when playing paintball. Also cause he was her boyfriend. She always had to defeat him. It was a must on her to do list when playing. That and be the winning team. She loved seeing his revengeful eyes as she shot him. She had to be quick. She already thought out her plan on defeating him. But she couldn’t do that here. She knew he was surrounded by his teammates. She could not see them but she knew it for a fact. He hated being shot down by his girlfriend. So he always made it a challenge to get to him. But Baby Doll always outsmarted him. Except for one time when he had caught her by surprise. But that was a while ago. Her plan was to run into the woods. She was in the barn now. The place was swarming with rivals all out to get her team. But in the woods, it was dangerous. You were more open, more prone to being shot down. That’s one reason why nobody hid there. Not enough cover in the woods. But that’s where Baby Doll was going. She knew he would follow her there with his gang of blue vests. But Baby Doll had superb aim. She could easily shoot down half his team, especially since they’ll be out in the open. All she had to do was stay focused and dodge the bullets. She peeked over again. Joey was ducked, most likely discussing a tactic on how to get to Baby Doll, with his team. This was the perfect time. She crouched down, took a deep breath and ran full speed towards the woods. POP, POP, POP! She could feel the paintball bullets smacking the backs of her feet. Good thing you had to be shot in the chest to be considered out of the game. She ran towards the first tree she spotted and hid behind it. She was breathing heavily in excitement. She peered towards the barn. The blue vests were not after her, yet. But she knew they would be coming. She counted to count 1, 2, 3, 4, and on her count of 5 she heard a bullet casing pop open. Blue paint landed on her vest. Someone had shot the tree in front of her. A smirk stretched across her face. She knew exactly who it was. She waited for the shooting to stop. Then she popped out from behind the tree and shot the opponent. Disapprovingly it wasn’t Joey. It was a member of his team. But in the midst of shooting the member she caught a glimpse of Joey. He was running towards the woods. But he had used the back entrance of the barn. He had sent a member of his team as a distraction so he could run around and catch Baby Doll by surprise. But he had been sloppy. She had spotted him running towards the woods. She hid back behind the tree, another smirk forming on her lips. Quickly and swiftly she ran to a big oak tree. The tree had a big trunk and provided better cover for her. She glanced left. Joey was no where to be seen. But that was the area she had seen him running in. She crouched down, placing her gun on the floor for a split second so she could re tie her army boots. Just as she grabbed the lace she heard a stick crack in the distance. She clutched her gun slowly. Then looked over in the direction where she had heard the crack. Standing a mere 10 feet was Joey. He had his gun perfectly aimed at her chest. A sly grin etched on his face.
“It’s over love! Haha I have finally defeated you, any last words?”
“Of course hun.” She smiled.
Her hand was still clutched around her gun.
“I would like to say… You haven’t defeated me yet!”
Then she made a dive towards the next tree. He shot the paint gun but missed her by a few inches. As she dove for the tree she set her aim on her target and pulled the trigger. A single bullet shot towards Joey. And as the casing broke open when it hit his chest, Baby doll landed next to the tree. Joey had a look of defeat drawn on his face. He smiled and looked towards her.
“Damn! I thought I had you.”
He lifted his gun and shot her two times in the chest.
“Ouch! Hey that’s a foul! Your out of the game you cheater.”
He laughed “Exactly I’m out of the game. You have defeated me. But I can still get some revenge out right?”
He shot her again in the leg this time. She jumped up in pain. “Hey that hurt!” she yelped. He smiled and stuck out his tongue.
“Cry baby.”
She squinted her eyes at him. Then she dropped her gun and ran towards him, intending to tackle him to the ground. Her body collided with his, and they fell to the floor with a soft thud, his body cushioning hers as they landed.
“Ouch!” he yelled. “Dammit I didn’t see that coming”
She giggled “Haha well you called me a cry baby. What did you expect?”
She began lifting herself off of him. But he pulled her back onto him. “Hey mister strong guy. Let me go. I have to go attack your other teammates.”
He brushed his hand softly against her cheek.
“Eh screw em’.”
His cold lips touched her warm ones. His kisses were always so soft and passionate. And today for some reason it felt extremely passionate. Maybe it was because she was laying on him. But none the less the kiss was nice. He released his hold on her. She lifted herself off the ground and looked down at him. He was still lying on the ground, his hand shielding his eyes from the sun. He was smiling.
“What?” she asked him.
“Oh nothing, it’s just that you look super hot with the sun on you.”
She laughed. “Haha I love you Joey!”
He got up and pulled her small body against his.
“I love you to Baby Doll”
