Into the Night
I know vampire stories are.. overrated. But this is not glamorous like the new stuff. This brings back the mystery and brutality of the real vampire legends.
The story takes place in rural Slovakia. The name of the main character's name, Vincenc, is a traditional Slovak name meaning "conquering". He joins the police force to gain public trust while he slowly picks off the population of Dundince one my one, each killing more grizzly than the next.
Chapter 1
Black Dawn
He sits in the dim basement. Cement walls, bloody and cracked. Running out energy, his throat burns for blood. Digging his finger nails in his cold skin waiting for the sun to rise. But the full moon shines through the window, tauntingly. The night tortures him until his plan to find new victims comes into place at dawn.
"Good morning, new recruit." Cheif Perun said in the thick local Slovak accent as Vincenc walked into his dusty office. Vincenc grinned and doing the best he could to disguise the thirsty, burning sensation in his throat, he simply nodded. "Not much crime happens in this town," Perun continued, "but the police force is still necessary. Young new officers, like yourself, often expect much more... excitement. Unfortunately, excitement will not be an often occurrence. On the good side, there have been no policemen casualties in the history of Dundince. Tell me, do you have a family, officer?"
Vincenc forced the pain in his throat out of his mind and said "No, sir. I have only recently moved here, I consider myself... nomadic."
"Ahh very respectable." Perun scoffed. "I am glad to have a man like you on the force. Here is your weapons and belt. I trust you already know your position and duty here officer?"
"Yes." Vincenc spoke. "Highway patrol."
"Hmmm…" Perun grunted, "Perhaps an officer of your talents will be promoted in short time. Your record in the academy is more than impressive."
"If the opportunity arises..." Vincenc trailed off and checked his watch. "And now I must go. D'akujem, cheif." He finished and walked out of the room.
Vincenc's designated police car waited for him outside of the police station. He examined the vehicle, ensuring his plans can be carried out with it. The trunk was large enough for a body, it went fast enough to outrun any offender, and it was the perfect cover up for his planned homocide. When Vincenc was human, something this horrific would have never crossed his mind. But in his recent condition, "It is only necessary for survival." He thought and climbed into the car. Already having been trained and taught the landscape of Dundince, he started the police car and headed toward the highway. This town was in for a nightmare.
