Chapter 1

A New Realization

by: grdez
The Three Broomsticks was in an uproar! Guests were laughing and joking around. Students sitting around telling each other about their teachers. But I, I am the girl sitting by the window, alone. Tonight is a special night, but the special person who I am suppossed to be spending it with wasn't here for reasons unknown.
I looked across the table to the empty seat and cold food. I choked back the tears as I realized what had just happened. I kept telling myself that he was just late, but who could be an hour late!
I stood up and walked out of the Three Broomsticks. I walked through Hosmeade, making my way back to the school. I passed the Hog's Head and glanced into the window. I caught the bleach blonde hair of none other than, my boyfriend, Draco Malfoy seated across from another girl.
"That cheating git!" I muttered and turned my face from the aweful sight. I charged angrily into the school, to the Slytherin common room and up to the girls' dorms. I threw off the blue dress and changed into my pajamas. I laid in the four-poster bed, tears falling from my eyes.
'How did I fall for him in the first place?' I thought. I doubted ever wanting to be sorted into Slytherin and becoming friends with Draco. I regretted ever accepting his date offer. I regretted ever becoming his girlfriend! My stomach began to feel woozy and I got up and went to the common room. The portrait door flew open then revealing Draco, alone. He smiled.
"Hey, Sophia. Where have you been?" he asked as the anger piled up inside, almost causing me to explode.
"I have been... busy," I remarked, thinking why I was even talking to the bastard. "Where have you been?"
Draco hesitated and looked down to the left. Always a sign that someone is lying. I sighed angrily.
"You know, I'm just going to go," I stated simply. I walked around him and through the portrait door. My stomach was now turning and I felt like I was about to be sick.
"Sophie!" he called, but his voice droned out as I ran to the girls' bathroom. I ran in and instant to the nereby sink. I looked into the mirror and the face of a pale girl looked back at me. I took a sip of water and took in deep breaths. The bathroom door swung open and two girls from Griffingdor walked in. I knew one just by looking at her hair. Ginny Weasley and the other was most likely Hermoine Granger. My stomach began turning again and I turned back to the sink.
"Are you alright?" Hermoine asked. I crouched down to the ground and just sat on the cold floor of the bathroom, staring straight forward.
"I don't know," I replied finally when my stomach stopped turning.
"Are you sick?" the Weasley girl asked.
"I think so."
"You look like your hurting," Ginny said and Hermoine glanced at her confused.
"Not by an injury! By a person!" she replied and turned back to me. "You are in Slytherin, right?" I nodded my head, but wished I didn't. The dizziness returned and I let out a groan.
"Oh, do I feel bad for you."
"Don't. It was stupid of me to fall for him anyways. It was my own fault for thinking he would actually remain faithful. I'm Sophia Tilson, by the way."
"Ginny Weasley and Hermoine Granger. Who was the unfaithful git?"
"Draco Malfoy," I said, the name making my stomach do flips.
Both of the girls' mouths dropped wide open.
"Draco!"
"Malfoy!"
"Yes, that rotten little cheater."
"I'm sorry, Sophia."
I smiled for the first time that night. "Consider it a good thing that we are done." I stood up, regaining much strength.
"Well, I will see you around, I guess." The girls nodded and I slowly staggered out the bathroom. The sickness had ceased and all that was left was anger.
I walked into the Slytherin common room to see Draco sitting on the couch. I walked faster, but he caught me.
"Sophia, are you feeling alright?"
"Leave me alone, Draco!" I replied angrily. I marched by and up the stair case to the girls' dormitories.
"That over-grown, fat, insensitive, back-stabbing, selfish, full of himself toad!!" I shouted, not realizing Pansy Parkinson was sitting right there. My face turned scarlet immediatley. She cast a strange glance at me and slipped into her bed.I did the same.
2:30 in the morning. I haven't slept all night. I lay in bed listing in my head all the painful things Draco has ever done. So far, it was pretty long. My mind spinned and my body begged for sleep.
"I am so sick of this!" I declared, louder than expected. Nearly every night I lay awake, thinking why I ever dated a guy like Malfoy. He was selfish and just as much a coward. All I really wanted was everthing that he wasn't. I froze. I have just had an inspiration! I flew the blankets off my body and charged down the stairs into the common room. I ran out the portrait door and all the way to that Room of Requirement. Draco had told me about many times.
I needed a piano or a guitar, I thought. The grated door appeared and I walked inside. A grand piano stood in the middle of the large room right underneath the crystal chandelier. I sat down on the black bench and gently ran my fingers over the ivory keys. Thus, I began my composition.
