Chapter 1
POEM
Wow.
Is that all you can say,
When you've come this far?
I think so,
Unless your past triumphs have left a great scar.
Now to achieve this feeling,
There's a certain kind of way,
The waiting is tough;
I waited night and day.
My mother, large and sleepy,
Her belly poking out,
My father, impatient and needy,
The rest of us dare not to pout.
A single snap, of this inflated rose,
Shall surely snap the thorns off,
Of our happy stable home.
So the waiting; tough as it may be,
May soon give a small light,
A beckon, a hope,
To see.
The months slowly passed,
Dragged to the ground, they did,
But with hope and love and strength,
Ends a great battle with no supposed end.
Finally it happened; she cried out through the night,
For under her rump little bottom,
Lay a wet and soaking fright!
"My God, Geoff and Dayna! Are you blind; can't you see?
My waters have broken!"
She shouted with glee.
So off to the hospital hse went;
Where arose a great fight.
Not by knights or thieves or lions,
But with her own self; twas alright.
The doctors and nurses,
"We're baffled," they say.
For when ones water break,
The baby shalln't stay.
But yes, here was proof,
From an empty pair of doctors hands,
The baby was not coming;
Was resting in the stomaches sands.
So back home we went;
Was it ever going to happen?
"A contraction oughtta do it,"
But it was bleak and trapped in.
We knew it would not come,
We knew it wanted to stay-
My thoughts were cut off, with a
"The baby's on it's way!!"
So off we went again,
The car grumbled quite a fuss,
But we finally reached the hospital,
Where she knew she must.
I wasn't allowed in; who could stand such a sight anyway?!
"I could!" I argued,
but I was forced to stay.
A screaming arose, and then a great sigh,
A few minutes later,
I ran all the way inside.
There, was my mother, pale and awed and shone,
And in her weak little arms, sat my brother,
Mr Mortimore; first name, James John.
