The Fountain of Blood

It was a very familiar place Masuyo was looking at. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but she knew she'd been there before. The sparkling lake, the tall trees, the crisp, green grass under her feet... but... something wasn't quite right. It was nighttime, she could tell by the dark blue color in the sky, but... it wasn't dark. She looked around, but there was no sun anywhere. There wasn't a moon or any any stars either. Despite all of this, it was exceedingly hot and getting warmer by the second. Masuyo looked out upon the lake. It had started to bubble. The deep blue waters started to morph into deep violet and then slowly into scarlet. It started to glow, only a bit at first, but it got brighter and brighter until Masuyo had to look away. She peered up at the sky, It too was now red and beginning to glow. She looked down, trying to find somewhere to rest her eyes on. The grass had turned silver. It didn't shine, but it began to move towards her foot. She watched in terror as the grass came up and grabbed her feet. It dragged her down into the earth about six inches, she guessed. She tried desperately to pull free, but it was all in vain. She heard something... a wave. She looked up to see the glowing crimson water swallow her up.
Her eyes snapped open. She was in her bedroom and her sister Chex was towering over her.
"W-what're you doing in here?" she staggered, trying to shake off the fright her dream had caused.
"You sem,ed like you were having a nightmare..." Chex said, concern showing in her voice. "Are you okay, Kaeru?"
"I'm fine, Usagi. It wasn't really too bad..." Kaeru murmured, looking down at her hands. She didn't want to worry her sister too much. Chex seemed to believe every word, for relief washed over her face.
"I'm glad~ But, that wasn't the original reason I came to wake you up... You see, I was wondering if you wanted to come with me to Gamestop to pick up our orders. We gotta get there fast if we're gonna beat the crowd." Chex said. Masuyo smiled. Their orders were supposed to come in last week, but whoever shipped it forgot to put the games inside of the box.
Chex was getting Pokemon SoulSilver and Masuyo was getting HeartGold. They were going to have a race to see who could finish first, and then they were going to challenge each other to a final battle. It was gonna be so much fun!
"Meet me outside when you're ready!" Chex said, closing the door gently behind her.
After a few moments, Masuyo was ready and gleaming with anticipation. She stepped out into the warm air, carefully shutting the front door. She walked towards Chex who had both of their bikes ready. Masuyo paused to enjoy this momentous occasion. She grinned at Chex. Chex grinned back, but a few seconds later, her eyes widened. She sprinted towards Masuyo.
"Kaeru! Watch out!" Chex yelled. Masuyo heard a loud crack from above. Next thing she knew, her sister had pushed her and Masuyo was falling backwards. She hit her head on something hard and everything went black.
