Van Helsing: Paranormal Exterminator

Van Helsing: Paranormal Exterminator

Reads: 60 | Chapters: 8 |

Well, I decided that this would probably be a good story to post. The main character's name is Michelle, and has the unfortunate job of being the Van Helsing, meaning she tracks down paranormal kind who have "gone rogue" or are threats to mankind.

Also, each chapter was originally a short story I wrote, so that's why some are shorter, and there's almost always something going on.

Chapter 1

Business Abroad

The street was silent under the full moon. Not even the local gangs dared to leave thier headquarters anymore. I can't say I blame them, but I figured at least one person would be foolish enough to leave the safety of their home.

I walked down the street, listening to the rumble of the train passing half a block away, my footsteps the only other noise in the night. I waited for it, the creature that had terrorized the city for weeks, knowing that I was using myself as bait.

Quite suddenly, he appeared at the end of the street. Even at the distance he was away from me, I could tell that he was taller than me, which wasn't hard, considering I was all of five feet tall. His hair was longer than was acceptable in polite society and hung loose around his shoulders. An ancient , I thought.

I made my way towards him confidently. My hand went to the pocket of my jacket, feeling for my revolver.

"A woman shouldn't wander these streets at night," the creature said.

"I'm a special case," I said, pulling the revolver from my pocket and undoing the safety.

"You think that will work on me?" he asked, stepping closer.

"Eat silver," I said, firing off a couple of rounds.

As the creature realized that he was at the end of the line, I holstered my revolver and pulled a silver cross from another pocket of my jacket. Placing it around the creature's neck, I said a prayer to Hades for his soul.

It wouldn't take long for the police to show up and remove the body and I needed to get out of here before that happened.

Once again, I had removed a paranormal threat, and if I stayed, I would be called a murder. Go figure.
