Places can seem different at different times of the day. Choose a place you know well and describe it during two different times; daytime and nightime .

A park by my house, before they cut down the trees around the bike path.
In the day, the park's bright and active. the sturdy old trees along the paths provided good shade, and gave character to the park.

At night, that park was creepy (still is, even without the trees) because the darkness created by the shadows of the trees was so dense around one particular path. It was pretty easy to avoid that path at night though. There's another one that runs parallel that was better lit.
