Lost
Prologue
Katilyn
I walked a little bit faster, my heart speeding with every step I took. The only thing lighting my way was the faint moon-light. Around me, I saw trees dance with the wind. Where am I? Why am I here?
Chapter 1
Charpter One-Katilyn
Chapter One
Katilyn
"Tori, can we go yet?" I miserably mumbled.
"One more store, and then we can leave", she reasoned, although one more store was one more hour of nothing, which was the worst punishment I could think of.
Usually, girls love to shop. Don't get me wrong,. but today I was supposed to be ice skating with my best friend, Emily, but my sister insisted that I go shopping with her today. Unfortunatley, Tori loves to linger.
I sat down on a bench and checked the time. It was already 1PM. We had been at the mall for about three hours now. As I watched Tori go into one of the stores, I started to text Emily. Around me, the entire mall was busy. There were people everywhere! I was just about to hit the send button when someone, or something covered my mouth and whispered just loud enough for me to hear, "If you want to live, don't say a word. Just follow me and whatever you do, don't do anything stupid!"
The man, a tall and mysterious looking person, confiscated my cell phone. I prayed for Tori to hurry up. I hoped that this was just some dumb joke, but the look of the man said he meant business. He was accompanied by two other people, looking very muscular and tough. "Shoot," I thought, "I can't outrun them, or they'd easily catch up, and kill me."
They led me away form the mall, away from the bench, away from my sister, away from witnesses. I hung my head as they shoved me into a black van. One of the men, a tall guy with a moustache, looked from me to the other guy to the leader and back to me and said, "Should I?" The leader slammed on the gas pedal and nodded ever so calmly. The car sped out of the parking lot, and as I suffered from whiplash, the moustache man, Thomas, hit me on the head, and everything went black.
Meanwhile Back In The Mall
Tori
"That was fun, too bad Katilyn missed out on it." Tori said to herself as she walked out of the store, holding shopping bags galore. She was walking towards the bench where she last saw her sister when she started to panic. "Where's Katilyn?" she screamed in her head. With one glance toward the bench, well, it was obvious that the bench was empty. Tori scanned the crowds of people throughout the mall, but there was no sign of her sister.
She probably called mom to come pick her up. She's safe and sound at home. They wouldn't have been that stupid. Good for her. Safe and sound..." Tori convinced herself that Katilyn was fine. She smiled as she walked into her white car, satisfyied with herself.
While she drove, she admired her new-ish car. Her parents had given it to her for her 16th birthday last year. Or so, that's what Katilyn thought. Ever since her....adventure, Katilyn wasn't herself...." Tori shook away the thought and drove home.
Inside, she found the silent house to be empty. There was a note on the fridge addressed to Tori. It read:
"Don't call me, I have an important meeting today and my cell will be off.
Have fun at the mall, girls!
Love, Mom
PS Tori, don't let your sister leave your sight."
Tori groaned at how her mother distrusted her so. Then she thought about the note, about the mall, and finally she thought about Katilyn's disappearance. Panic rushed through her veins, sweat dripped off her fingers and she raced for the nearest phone. She dialed the number and waited for a reply. Finally, she answered, "I need to report a missing person!"
