What If? Part 10 {Scorpius Malfoy and Lily Potter}

"Lily Luna Potter! If you don't come down here now we'll leave you behind," Ginny called from down the stairs. Lily however was busy trying to find a shirt. She finally dug one out that was red with a snitch on it.

"Just a second," she called down the stair tying her back running down the stairs. Ginny looked very impatient and had little Albus in a sling.

"Finally, can we Floo now?" James asked. Ginny nodded and he took a handfull of powder and was gone. "I'll go next," Harry said.

"Don't end up in Knockturn Alley!" she called after him. Lily went and Ginny folllowed. Diagon Ally was filled with witches and wizards getting supplies for Hogwarts. "We can skip the wand shop, let's head to Flourish and Botts first," Ginny said. They headed to the bookstore and bought their books. "Where too next?" she asked.

"Magical Menagerie," Lily said at the same time James cried, "Quality Quidditch Supplies,"

"Well why don't we split up? You wanted to go to the Daily Prophet anyway to show your friends Albus," Harry said. Ginny was the editor of the Quidditch section. "Ginny can manage in the shop by herself and I intended to go into the Quidditch supply store anyway," he said with a smile. Ginny rolled her eyes.

"We can meet at the cafe for lunch in an hour," Ginny said and the Potters split up.


Lily walked into the Menagerie, the whole place was loud and noisy. She looked around immediatly overwhelmed, maybe she should have went to the Owl Emporium. Sure there were owls at school and Mad-Eye was good for exchanging letters between her parents...

"Do you need any help?" asked an older witch with thick black spectacles.

"Yes, I have no idea what to get." Lily said looking at all the animals. "I'm in my third year," the lady looked her up and down.

"I have just the thing," she left and came back with what looked like a gigantic ball of cotton. "It's a cat," she said handing Lily the animal. It's eyes were bright green and reminded her of Albus's and her fathers. It's fur was fluffy and snow white with a smushed down nose and bent ears. "Do you like it?" Lily nodded eagerly. "I'll help you pick out some things,"

The witch helped her pick out a food dish, carrier and food for it. Lily headed to the cafe. It had only taken her a half an hour in the store and knew her family would take longer than an hour. Mum would start talking with people and her dad and brother would get sucked into the world that is Quidditch.

Lily got her potions book out as an attempt to try to cram so she wouldn't fail. "Lily!" she heard and turned around and smiled. Scorpius. He walked over and sat down across from her. "Dad is off doing some buiness and I already have my books, so I'm bored out of my mind,"

"My mum is visiting some friends and James and my father got sucked into the Quality Quidditch Supplies," he said. The friends ordered ice cream; chocolate for Lily and Vanilla for Scorpius.

"Who's that?" he asked looking at the cat.

"His name is Pip Squeak," she said. Scorpius laughed. "Want to hold her?" he shook his head and Lily hugged him. "Don't worry I love you," she coos to the cat. They eat their ice cream slowly and talk about what classes they're going to take.

"I'm going to take Ancient Runes, Care of Magical Creatures and Divination," Scorpius says. Lily rolls her eyes and takes a big bite of her ice cream cone. "So what are you taking?"

"Ancient Runes, Arithmancy and Care of Magical Creatures. Aunt 'Mione says Divination is a joke," Scorpius took a big bite of ice cream getting it all over his face. Lily giggled.

"What?" he asked.

"You have a little something," she said gesturing to his face. He wiped some away and looked at her almost saying 'all gone,'. She shook her head and got a napkin reaching across the table. "What are you doing?" he demanded.

"Hold still," she said trying to wipe away the ice cream. He swatted away her hand.

"Your mental," he told her. Lily rolled her eyes and sat back.

"That's why you love me," she said then instantly blushed. "You are my best friend after all," he rolled his eyes and sat back. They both finished off off their cone. Scorpius looked at her face and laughed. "What do I have something on my face?" he reached across and took the chocolate off her face with her thumb.

She made a grossed out face and started wiping off her face with a napkin. "Scorpius," she heard a sharp voice call out. Both of them turned and saw his dad standing there. Draco Malfoy looked to be an intimidating cold man. His grey eyes pierced through whatever he looked at and right now his gaze was directed at Lily and Scorpius obviously watching the whole exchange.

"Sorry Lils I have to go. See you on the train. You can always owl me," he gave her a smile. One that she recently noticed this school year was only directed at her. She watched as he got up and left. She sat back with a frown on her face. Since when did her friendship with Scorpius become so complicated?

She must of zoned out when she heard a: "Lily," she looked up and saw James across the street walking over, her dad was walking out after him, slower. Probably got caught up talking with someone again. That's when she froze; had her brother seen the whole exchange between her and Scorpius too. The last thing she needed was for more reasons for him to tease and more reasons to get into fights with Score.

"Are you alright, you look a little pale," It was her mum.

"Yeah fine, just a little excited. I saw Scorp," Ginny flashed her a knowing smile.


It was two weeks later when Lily was going to Kings Cross station. Laughingly she put on a red shirt with Believe in Magic blazoned across her chest in gold lettering. Her dad had gotton a good laugh out of that when he saw it.

"Behave the both of you," Ginny said, holding Albus who had fallen asleep in her arms again. "No fighting and please try to stay out of the hospital wing," Lily nodded and so did James. Her dad wrapped her in his arms and kissed her on his head.

"Stay away from Bludgers," was his excellent advice this year. She laughed before getting on the train. James had already found a compartment and she walked back to the Slytherin section.

"Lily!" she heard someone cry and saw Loki standing there with a dazed expression on his face. "Lovely Lily," he said walking forward trying to give her a hug.

"What happened to you?" she asked. Then she heard deep laughter from the compartment.

"Christian, Warren!" she cried and the two boys stepped out. "What sort of spell did you use on him?"

"How did you know it was us?" Christian asked. She put her hands on her hips and laughed. "Fine it was, revenge for trying to get us up early," she rolled her eyes and walked into the compartment. Ronnie and Celia were inside; only Loki came in with her. The other two went off to talk with some older students.

"So tell me about Aleksander," Ronnie said later. Loki rolled his eyes.

"I think it's time for me to change into my robes," he said. The girls laughed and quickly changed into theirs.

"Spill," Ronnie said finally. Lily rolled her eyes. "Come on, I want to hear about him too," Celia wheedled.

"There's not much to tell. He goes to Durmstrang and is Beater on their Quidditch team," she wrinkled her nose at that. "And his favorite subject is potions. He's friends with James," she sighed finally. That's when the door opened. Lily instantly brightened up. Scorpius was standing there in his robes.

"I'm I disrupting something?" he asked looking at his friend.

"No! They were just being nosey," he walked in, Loki following him before sitting down. Lily started talking animately with Scorpius. Everyone got up when they approached the castle. Lily started to follow the rest of them when Ronnie grabbed her arm. "You and Scorpius," Lily's eyes widened, but she managed to take a deep breathe and answer coolly.

"We're just friends," Ronnie nodded with raised eyebrows.
