Chapter 1
Just the Beggining
Zoey's POV: I raced downstairs, beating Abby by seconds.
She was 9 years old and my favorite step-sibling. Sarah and I are close, but not by much. See, my mom and their dad married. My mom and I moved in with them last month, so we've gotten to know eachother. Now my step-brother... he's another story. He hates me, he hasn't had a friend over for the whole month I've lived with them. This was his dads choice, he said that for the month we should bond, and get to know eachother. So now Ryan hates me, although he has no good reason. Ryan is my age, Abby is 9 and Sarah is 19.
I ran into the kitchen, pausing to catch my breath before saying, "I won. I won." Then I stuck out my tongue childishly at Abby. "Honey can you sit down?" My mom asked me politely, guesturing to the seats and the counter. Abby and I slid into the chairs and began wolfing down our pancakes. I stopped and looked up warily, "what's the news?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. My mom only makes pancakes on Saturday's, and today's Sunday, which means news. At this point I don't know if it's good or bad. "Abby, can you go get Ryan and Sarah." My mom said, nodding toward the staircase. "Sure." Abby retorted before jumping up and walking up the stairs. Once she came back with Ryan and Sarah following shortly behind her Jack walked in. He put his arm around mom and announced, "you have good news and bad news. Which one first?" "How about the go-" Ryan began, though I cut him off by saying, "Bad." Ryan turned and glared at me, then stopped when Sarah smacked his shoulder. "Well, to you this might be bad. You're all going to summer camp!" Jackson peppily stated. "Are my friends going?" Abby blurted, reading my mind. I had the exact same question. "No hun, neither are your's Zo. Ryan already invited 2 of his friends. Christian and Justin." My mom informingly said. I huffed and slouched in my chair, upset that I'd probably get stuck with people I would hate. "Abby, Zoey, go up to your rooms and pack." My mom politely ordered, smiling as I stomped the stairs. I entered my room and grabbed my two suitcases. I ran back downstairs and asked, "how long and is it a sleepover camp?" Even though I knew the answer to the second question, it was a yes. "It's for the whole summer and yes, it is a sleepover." My mom nodded a few times before speakign again. "Ryan, Christian, Justin, and you have to share a cabin." I groaned, obviously annoyed. I would rather share it with a bunch of screaming girl. "Now hun, go pack." She instructed, shooing me away with a motion of a hand. I stomped back upstairs and began looking through my closet. I started putting shirts and shorts into my suitcase until my whole closet became a barren waste land. Abby came storming into my room, asking "who are you sharing the cabin with? I have to share it with three girls: Hannah, Anna and Mirand!" "Well, I'm stuck with your brother and his two dweeby friends." I said, nudging her shoulder causing her to laugh and come with the response of. "Well, I guess you get the bad end of the donkey." We both started laughing, understanding how the joke was innappropiate and hilarious at the same time. "Abby, you should go get packing again. I still have to pack all my shoes." I said after our laughing fit had ended. She left the room in a hurry, remembering that she hadn''t even begun packing. I grabbed one pair of white flip flops and a blue pair identical to the white one. At around 9 o'clock my mom came up and said good night to me. "Hunny, Christian's 14and Justin's 16 so try and hang around them a little. They're very nice kids." She kissed my forehead and left me to dream my sweet nightmares. I slid out of my bed and kneeled next to it and began whispering, "Dear Lord, thank you for the husband for my mom even though I dislike him. I don't hate him because hate is to strong of a word. Thank you for the money and shelter you've given me. Please let Christian and Justin be nicer than Ryan. Please, God, help me through this journey called life. Amen." I finished and crawled back into the warmth of my bed, although it was summer I was still as reptile as always, by reptile I mean always cold.
~~Morning~~
Zoey's POV: A loud banging awoke me from my sweet nightmare. I groggily answered the door, "you got 10 minutes 'til we have to leave." Jackson smiled and walked off to Ryan's room, banging on his door too. I quietly closed my door and rubbed my eye. I wasn't a morning person. I grabbed the outfit I picked out yesterday and grabbed my bags. Outfit: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=29675140
I lugged them downstairs and outside, waiting next to the car was Jackson. He grabbed my bags and placed them neatly into the back of the car. Ryan, Justin and Christian filed out of the door. They threw their bags on top of mine and hopped into the car. I jumped into the back next to all the suitcases. "Jackson, do they have T.V's there?" I asked hoping for a yes. "If they do can I bring the Xbox and Black Ops and Call of Duty." I added, still hoping for that yes. "Sorry, Zoey, but no they don't." He replied, opening the driver's seat door and starting the engine. Mom walked out with Abby and Sarah following. Abby jumped into the back with me and pulled her suitcase along with her. "Bye guys, see ya after summer!" Sarah shouted while waving to us. "Wait, you're not going with us?" I asked, wishing I was her. "Yeah, they only take 7-16 year old, sorry!" She shouted again, waving again. "See you in an hour." My mom shouted out the window as Jack began driving. "Hey Dad?" Ryan began, "who are my cabing mates?" "Well, Christian and Justin are two, and the third is Zoey." He answered, a smile obviously on his face by the tone of voice he was using. "Really, I have to share a cabin with that pansy?" Ryan stated, mockingly. "Ryan, don't be rude. And yes, you are sharing a room with her." Jack said, not even changing Ryan's statment of calling me a pansy. Abby twirled her hair around her finger boredly, as Ryan Justin and Christian talked. I began eves-dropping when my name came up in a conversation. "So, how's Zoey?" Came the question. "Terrible! Justin, she ruined my whole summer. If it weren't for her we would've had another guy for a cabin mate." Ryan spat, indicating the first person to talk was Justin. I saw Ryan's friends earlier, although I don't have a clue which one was Justin. "I'm surprised she didn't freak out when she saw me." Justin said, a bit shocked by the actions I hadn't done. Abby nudged me and whispered, "eves-dropper." "Our secret, kay?" I said nudging her back. She nodded and sighed, she sagged her shoulders and began humming an odd tune. "I'll never let you go." Justin sang spontaniously. Abby laughed as if it brought back fantastic memories, which for some reason I think it did for her. "We're here." Jack called in a sing-song voice. Everyone dragged there zombie like bodies out of the car. We all grabbed our bags and headed to the main office where Jackson said good-bye and handed us off to our counselors. My counselor was a guy, who seemed about Ryan's age. He started leading us to our cabin, helping me with one of my bags and asking questions. "Are you guys all related?" He first asked. "Me and her are-" Ryan began, before I cut him off. "It would be said, 'Zoey and I are related'." I corrected him, sending everyone but Ryan into chuckles. "Oh, I'm Jason, by the way." Jason said, winking at me. I smiled politely and began looking around. We proceeded walking to the cabin, once there I dropped my stuff off and explained that I was going to explore the camp. I walked outside, searching to see if anyone my age was here. "Hey babe," I voice said from behind me. I whirled around, seeing one of Ryan's friends standing there. "Leave, please." I begged, whirling around again. I started walking again, ignoring Ryan's friend following me. "Babe, where you going?" He asked, putting his arm around my waist and pulling me to his side. "Okay, first I don't even know your name. Second, I'm not your 'babe'." I informed him, pushing him off of me. "It's Christian, and don't lie. You want to be my babe, just stop faking it." Christian said, rapping his arm around me again. I groaned, annoyed at his persistancy. "No I don't, know stop." I argued, pushing him off and running down the hill. My shoes clapped against my heels in a comforting rhythm. Looking over my shoulder seeing that Ryan's friends, Christian, left, I began searching for someone to hang out with. Slowly I scanned the perimeter, spotting two girls, around my age, talking near the dining hall. I sprinted back up the hill to their location. "Hey." I said, a little nervous they'd be mean to me. "Hey! I'm Alli, this is Jenny." The first girl warmly said, pointing to herself and then the other girl as she introduced me. There was a short silence until the girl, Alli, spoke again. "I'm being rude. I forgot to ask your name." I giggled and replied, "I'm Zoey. So is this your first year? It's mine." "No, we've both been going here for 5 years know. This year is gonna be the best though, Justin Bieber is coming!" Jenny began sqealing at the end. "He rode in my car, what's so cool about him?" I asked, having no clue why she was so excited over him. "I also have to share a cabin with my jerk step-brother, him adn Christian Beadles or something." I said, confused on how Justin was so cool. "He's here!?!?! You're so lucky!" Jenny exclaimed before pleading me to take her to my cabin. "What's so special about him, he's just another friend of Ryan's?" I said, still confused over her excitment. "He's a famous pop-star and Jen's obbsesed with him. Don't worry, she's not using you to get to see Justin. It's just her personality." Alli stated, informing me on why she was excited. "Oh, well then. Come on, I'm cabin 5." I stated, still a bit confused. We began walking across the green. "I like your style Alli!" I said, looking her over. Alli's outfit: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=29675437
"Really? But I got nothing on you girl!" Alli said, laughing. "Jenny, you look fabulous too." I said, smiling at them. Jenny's outfit: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=29675608
"But like Alli, I got zippo on you! All the boys will be looking at you!" Jenny shouted loudly, causing everyone to look over at us. A few boys were checking me out. "See, those boys be staring at you!" Alli whisper shouted, loud enough for both Jenny and me to hear. I laughed and began running, noticing how close my cabin was. I walked through the door with Jenny and Alli following shortly after. "Dang it! You guys already chose your beds." I groaned, but stopped and smiled realizing I got the bed next to the window on the side facing west. I always loved watching the sunset, so appearently God was being nice today. Justin walked out of the bathroom, shirtless. Jenny let out a loud shrill. "God, Zoey. Don't bring any chicks in here when I'm not prepared." Justin said, flashing a smile at Jenny and Alli. Jenny seemed to melt at his smile while Alli rolled her eyes, hating his arrogent acts. I pulled Jenny and Alli into the bathroom. "I know I'm a bit late to ask, but how old are you guys?" I asked hoping they weren't 16. "15, why?" Alli responded, allowing relief to flood over me. It's not that I liked Justin, it's just I found it disgusting if either one dated him or Ryan. "Okay, nevermind." I said, opening the door again letting both girls out. Christian walked into the bathroom in a flash, shutting the door behind him so I was stuck inside with him. "Hey babe." He said, pinnig me up against the wall. I slipped out from under him and tried to reach the door, but again Christian blocked me from escaping. He pinned my wrists against the door and neared my face. Right before our noses touched he redirected himself, heading for my ear. He whispered, "we all know you want me." A knock inturrupted him, saving me from the lies he was saying. "What are you kids doing in there?" A voice, that sounded like Justin's, asked. "Just leaving ." I replied, smirking at Christian. He released my wrists and opened the door for me, holding out his hand in a gesture that meant I was to leave first. As I exited I felt his slap my butt. I felt the blood rush to my cheeks, I clenched my teeth and bawled me fists, holding back myself from punching him. I grabbed Jenny and Alli's wrists and pulled them outside, not wanting to stay in the cabin any longer. "Can we go to the lake or pool, or something? 'Cause I really don't want to be there." I said, pushing them in the direction away from the cabin. Alli nooded and began walking to the left, Jenny reluctantly left the cabin and kept looking over her shoulder. "It's about noon so we should probably head to the dining hall instead." Alli turned on one heel and started walking a different direction. I followed beside her, Jenny trailing behind both Alli and me. We arrived at the dining hall, only a few people sat inside eating their lunches. We grabbed tray's and headed toward the section of the hall where we were to get our main course. I, being the pig I am, pick up 2 hamburger's that were a fair size. I headed toward the drinks and grabbed myself a can of soda. Then got my apple and small slice of cheese cake, my favorite kind. "Can we eat outside?" I asked Alli as she walked up to me. "Yeah, c'mon we should get Jenny first." She was grabbing a bottle of water when we spotted her, "Jen, come on! Let's go outside." Alli made everything seem happy, escpecially this line for some reason. We all trailed mindlessly outside, we walked around for a bit until we caem upon a large tree that was filled with lush green leaves. I smirked as I placed the tray in one hand and scarmbled up the tree, leaving my two new friends on the ground. "C'mon." I said, motioning for them to join me in the tree. Alli smiled and climbed up while Jenny laughed and shook her head no. Alli began shoving salad into her mouth, she looked hilarious with a small amount of lettuce and dressing on the side of her mouth. I wolfed down both sandwhiches in what seemed like no time at all. I bit down on the apple. "Where's Zoey and the other girl?" Christian asked, probably noticing Jenny on the ground. "Oh, they're at the pool." Jenny lied, causing a smirk to become plastered to my face. "Okay, see ya later." Christian said before leaving, his footsteps were loud and annoying. After about a minute Jenny called up to me, "you're welcome." "Why thank you!" Came my reply. I jumped down, missing Jenny by inches. "Good Lord!" She shouted at me, hitting me with the back of her hand. She stood up and brushed herself off, smiling widely. Alli came down a moment later; and we began the walk back to the cabins. We arrived first at Alli and Jenny's, they changed into their bikini's and came out. Jenny did a small pose, making me giggle. We then walked to my cabin, that was right next to their's. I ran inside, hoping Christian wasn't there. Luck was on my side, he was apparently out looking for me. After changing into my bathing suit I came out, this time my luck had run out, there stood Christian, waiting for me. "Where were you?" He asked, one eyebrow raised in suspicion. "What's it to you?" I shot back, pushing him out of the way and past him. I pushed the door open adn slammed it shut, stomping over to my awaiting friends. "Nice style, what's got you in suck a hu- oh yeah sorry we didn't
stop him." Alli said, looking guiltily down. "Doesn't matter let's go. This? This I just picked randomly." I said, my mood lightening. Bathing Suits: http://www.polyvore.com/girls_swim_suits/set?id=29744861
