I felt his heart race all of a sudden and his grasp on me loosened.

He pulled away and took a deep breath.

I looked down and saw a bulge sticking out of his pocket.

My breath caught on my throat - 'Oh God, is this it? Is he going to -'

He lowered himself on one knee and took my hands in his.

"Jess, I know it's been such a short time that we've known each other, but I'm in love with you and I don't think I'll ever be able to live without you. You're everything I want in a girl - smart, funny, sweet, you're not afraid to tell people how you feel and most of all, you are the most beautiful girl I've ever met. So, Jessica, will you marry me?"

Tears welled up in my eyes and flowed over like a waterfall.

I thought back at all of the good and the bad memories we've been through together and smiled.

"Yes, Jacob! I'll marry you!"

He laughed, a tear escaping his eye, and took a black satin case out of his pocket "Open it." he said in a cracked voice.

I lifted the top of the case to find a beautiful diamond ring placed just fitted for my hand to wear.

He picked it up and grabbed my hand. He then placed it on my ring finger. The diamonds glowed in the moonlight.

"It took me alot of paychecks for this."

"It looks like it." I said in amusement, waving the ring back and forth, making it shine on my finger.

"Thank you, Jake, I love it and you."

"Touche." He laughed.

He lifted me into a kiss and we sat there in each other's embrace. We both finally got tired and slept under our tree, fiancées in each others arms, happy.
