Introduction

If I don't get good feedback, I'm probably not gonna finish the story. That's why I'm making an introduction. So here it is.

Aria sat at the chair by her window. Waiting for the mail to arrive, she played a game on her phone. This has been Aria's routine for the past two days. In the beginning of the school year, she heard about a camp for performing arts. Her drama teacher told her about it and she wanted to go more than ever. Ms. Jones, Aria's drama teacher said that you have to audition to be in Camp Melody and they only take the best of the best people in grades 9-12. Since Aria was in 9th grade, she decided to take the chance and audition. She remembered that day like it was yesterday: the stone expressions on the judges faces as Aria did a cover to "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis on her guitar. How nervous she felt when the judges made no sign of being impressed when they asked her to sing the national anthem. And how she was on the virge tears when the judges shooed her off the stage without saying a word. But, that was over ten months ago and today was the day she was supposed to get the letter that says if she's making it or not. Ms. Jones told her that out of the 7000 students that audition from all across America, only about 300 of them make it in. Then, she saw the mail truck pull up and put a few letters in her mail box. Aria jumped to her feet, slipped her sandals on, and ran outside as fast as she could. She threw the other mail on the table for her parents to read and ripped open the glitter decorated envelope. Hands trembling, she un-folded the letter. After reading the words over 50 times, Aria started screaming and crying. Her mother ran out of her room to see what the commotion was about. Aria threw herself on the couch. Now, her whole body was trembling. Her mother snatched the letter out of Aria's hand and read it:

Dear Miss Aria Marshall,
Out of the 7,125 talented students who auditioned to attend Camp Melody for the Summer of 2011, you have been chosen to be one of the 293 who are going this year. Camp starts June 12 and ends August 12. You should promptly be on camp grounds at 12 PM on June 12. There, you will get to mingle with the other campers and have our welcoming lunch. Please send back your Activity Selection Card by May 1st so we know for sure if you're attending. We are very happy to have you here this Summer.
Mark L Baystein
Camp founder and owner

Aria's mom started to scream with her. After about 2 minutes of screaming, they both calmed down. Aria smiled at her mom and said "I can't believe this! Now all I have to do is pick out my classes and I'm set for the Summer!". Aria's mom handed her the Activity Selection Card and a pen to check off what she wants to do. Aria started to check off her activities. For instruments, she was doing professional guitar. For vocals, she was doing intermediate uptempo. For dance, she was doing beginner hip-hop. For the outdoor activities, she was doing swimming and archery. Perfect. Now all she had to do was send it back and she was done. But, Aria read a part at the bottom:
IF YOU KNOW ANYBODY ATTENDING CAMP THIS YEAR AND WANT TO REQUEST TO SHARE A ROOM WITH THEM, PLEASE WRITE THEIR NAME(S) BELOW

Aria remembered that nobody she knew was coming to camp. Nobody that she knew auditioned so she would be all alone. The thought of having no friends brought Aria's mood down. But, her mom patted her on the back and said "Don't worry about that Ari. You never have problems making friends. And you're such a beautiful girl so I'm sure the boys will be all over you!" Aria smiled and shouted "MOM! I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT BOYS AT THE MOMENT!" Her mom smiled and kissed her on the head. "You better enjoy this camp Ari, because this is costing me an arm and a leg!" And with those words, Aria's mother went back to her room. Aria ran back to her room. She looked in the mirror. "How could my mom think I'm beautiful? I'm ugly and flat chested. I'm 14 years old and I haven't even had my first kiss yet..." Aria said to herself. Aria had milky skin and a few freckles on her rosy cheeks. She had light brown hair with purple dye underneath it. Her eyes were a lovely shade of violet. No matter how many guys at school said she was "hot", it didn't matter to her. And she thought all the guys at her school were jerks anyway. Aria hates school. Even though she's admired by most of the guys at school, she's hated by all the girls for that reason. There's not a day that goes by where someone doesn't call her a whore or slut. But maybe at camp, she could make friends with people who weren't so judgemental. Nothing mattered anymore now. Because in two months, she will be getting on a plane to Florida to go to Camp Melody. Aria's good mood came back after she delivered her Activity Slection Card into her mail box. Aria got her pink suit case from the garage and started packing. She didn't want to be late for the plane when the day came. Aria smiled to herself and started to pack her bathing suits. She had a feeling this was going to be a good Summer.
