Chapter 1

The Castle

by: pmb0629
Sanders was a boy, he was a prince, he lived happily ever after, the end.
Just kiddin’, yes he was a boy, not a prince, did he live happily ever after? Maybe, maybe not.
He did not live in a house, not the streets in fact he lived in a castle, just like a prince, but he was treated like a dirty rat. He was commanded to work and clean and never got a wink of sleep. He worked for the king but never saw him, that didn’t make much sense to him. But what did make sense to him is that there were no other twelve and a half year old boys or girls working every day and night in this castle. Maybe there are other boys and girls that I can make friends with – If I can find them. He thought. One night he thought about trying to find them. But he couldn’t because of William the guard. He let out a long sigh what a pointless and hopeless existence. He thought.
He stared out the window.
“Yo, you there, look at this,” William said pointing to the floor.
“Sorry, sorry so much, I really am.”
“Na, na, what I mean is you need a break don’t you?” He asked. Sanders nodded his head so hard that some of his red hair fell on his face. He looked up at the top of the castle to hide his relief, He didn’t want William to change his mind.
William wasn’t much older than Sanders himself. Sanders didn’t know how old William was, probably fifteen, it was hard too tell at that age.
“I’ll help you escape – IF you promise to bring along that!” William said harshly. He pointed to the piece of parchment and pen that Sanders was holding.
“It’ll come in handy, trust me.” William added. Sanders looked confused but didn’t protest, why should he? Sanders just shrugged his shoulders and said nothing.
William was probably the best person to be escaping with, he knew the castle as well as anyone. They walked on in silence. Sanders knew the outside of this wretched castle, after all he had been brought here only four months ago. He knew his parents
well – let me tell you this is not a Cinderella story. He missed them. His dad’s name was Jason, his mother’s was Lynsey and his brother’s is Luke, he missed them. He was lonely. “Hurry,” William whispered, although there wasn’t anyone there – or was there?
“There’s a noise! I swear! Quick hide!” Sanders whispered. Sure enough there was somebody walking in the corroder and whistling to himself while spinning keys around his middle finger.
“Those are the keys to get out of here.” William whispered from they’re hiding place. “We’d be locked in if we don’t get that key. Are you fast? We’re going to steal it, he’ll notice but we’ll run.”
“Am I fast? Hhmmm, I don’t know guess we’ll have to find out.”
So William grabbed the key and ran with Sanders.
“Guess I am sort of fast,” Sanders said to William.
“You idiot! It’s all your fault they got away!!” The happy man who was now not that happy screamed at the man he was talking to a few seconds earlier. “It’s not his fault they got away, it’s mine,” a boy said calmly said. “I am Billy the prince’s son.” The two men stood there gaping
“I’ve never seen royalty even in this castle,” one whispered to the other. But they then said “Sorry, no time for chit-chat, goodbye.” And the two men raced after William and Sanders. But the prince’s son raced after the two men, hoping to save Sanders and William from the two angry men. Even if they do escape the two men will probably get my father, and they’ll probably not have as much luck against him. Bill thought as he raced toward the two men and got farther and farther into the dark, still castle...
