Changes for the Better
Ok I REALLY worked hard on this story, so PLEEASEE let me know how I did!! Info Below:
Name: Rylie Soffian
Age: 15
Hair/Eyes: dark brown hair, blue eyes
Personality: nice, lots of friends(not exactly good friends though),outgoing, basically fun to be around.
Rylie was a fairly ordinary girl until her and her new friends were captured and taken away and the way she looked at life changed.
Chapter 1
Hunter
Rylie's POV*
I didn't really feel like going to lunch right away, so instead I went into the bathroom and sat down on the counter, studying myself in the mirror and occasionally combing through my dark brown hair when I heard someone walk up behind me. "Hay Ryliee!" her say in a singsong voice while tapping my shoulder rapidly, as if I didn't realize someone was talking to me
I shot a look behind me to see who had been poking me and saw that it was my best friend, Kaylie standing there with a huge smile on her face. "Hi Kaylie--"
"Are you going to the dance?" She asked, cutting me off.
I gave her an annoyed look. "Of course I am, I must have told you this five times already.""Well, I'm a bad listener!" she responded quickly and I stared at her for a minute, trying to come up with a response but the truth is, that I couldn't. She had a point.
I shrugged. C'mon. It's time for lunch." I said, changing the subject. She nodded. "Yeah, let's see what they're trying to poison us with today.
~now outside with their death-on-a-tray~
I sat on the bench outside, poking my lunch with a fork. I had no idea what it was supposed to be, but it looked like demented Cheetos and mushed up tacos. While I waited for Kaylie to get her lunch, I entertained myself by listening in on Mayaa and Alexia, the most annoying prissy girls in the school.
Honestly I don't see any point in their conversations. They never say anything interesting, I actually tuned them out after a few minutes. Instead of listening to them, I looked around for someone more interesting to watch.
It didn't take long to find someone. Almost immediately I noticed a boy I'd never seen before, standing around, looking awkward and out-of-place. He looked as if he wanted to be anywhere but there.
I noticed Myaa glaring it me. I glared back for a moment before looking back at the new kid. Myaa followed my gaze to where I was looking and she started staring too, but I could tell she saw something different.
I could tell that she wanted to talk to this kid, and turn him against me. I knew that she despised me, and why. She was afraid that I would turn people against her. I knew that I could, but I didn't bother.
I went back to studying the new kid. He had reddish-brown hair that fell into his eyes and bluish-green eyes which were darting around the schoolyard, as if he was worried that someone was going to jump him.
By then, the kid had noticed me looking and he was staring back."Hey!" I called him over while Myaa was glaring at me, trying to burn holes into the side of my head. "Hi." He said as he sat down. I smiled. "You're new here, aren't you?" I asked and he looked down. "Yes."
"Why?" I asked and he shot me a confused look. "Why what?"
"Why are you here? At this school?" I explained. "Ohhhhh. Well my parent kind of..... Split up and I moved with my mom here." He answered. I was surprised that he would tell me something that important in his family when he didn't even know my name. "Can we change the subject now?" He asked after a minute of silence. I nodded. Talking about this made me uneasy so I was happy to talk about something else.
"So what's your name anyway?" He asked. "Rylie," I answered. "How about you?" He hesitated. "Uhh..." I sat, waiting for an answer. After a couple minutes I started to wonder if he had forgotten my question. "What's your name?" I asked again.
This time he answered. "Hunter." He mumbled.
"What?"
He sighed loudly before answering again. "My name is Hunter." The way he said his name made it obvious that he thought Hunter was the worst name on the face of the planet. "I've heard much worse names than that." I told him and he smiled slightly. Suddenly I heard someone laughing hysterically and I turned to see Kaylie laughing and her face turning red. I glanced back to Hunter and saw that he was turning red too. I had no doubts that Kaylie had heard our conversation.
(Hunter's POV)
Seeing this girl laughing at my name when I didn't even know her pissed me off.
"What's so funny?" I asked her bitterly. She stopped laughing and glared at me."Hunter's a stupid name!" She shot back. That shut me up. I didn't have a good comeback, seeing that I agreed with her.
I leaned back against the brick wall behind me and closed my eyes. "Ya see?" He didn't even bother to answer me! Because he agrees with me!" I could hear that girl talking again. Wow her voice was annoying! She sounded like a squeaky toy being massacred with a butter knife! I couldn't stand her voice anymore. I opened my eyes and glanced down at the apple I'd gotten from the lunch line and realized that I had lost my appetite. I looked around for a garbage can. I spotted one, about fifty feet away and chucked the apple, not nessesarily trying to practice my basketball skills, more like wanting to see how badly I would miss.
I missed, but only because Jack, my lonely brother got it the way and it hit him in the head. "JackSON!" I called over to him while pumping my fist in the air. He gave me thumbs up and I grinned and went inside the school building.
