Chapter 1

Frozen Almost Completly

My light jacket gave no warmth against the falling snow. The tree I was leaning up against gave no procetion. My mouth was so dry, it hurt to swallow. I could no longer detect where my mouth was located on my face, and so my attemps to call for help died out after only a few short moments. I waited for the darkness of death to find me.
I'm so stupid, I thought to myself. I was a very popular fifteen year old girl. Why had I thought so little of myself? Why had I wanted to die so badly? Now that it was inevitable, it seemed so odd that I would wish it upon myself.
When I was twelve I began acting out. Not only at home, but also at school. My grades went way downhill. A year later my mom died from cancer, and my dad was supposed to take care of me. Instead he abused me, and I had had to live with that for three years before getting the courage to run away. When I was thirteen not only did I start acting different, I began molding my appearance also. I cut my hair into scene hair, and started wearing dark eye makeup and brightly colored clothes. I got five tattoos when I was fourteen, along with peircing my nose and my tongue. I also peirced both ears all the way up my cartlige. Now that I had finally run away, I was going to die in a Washington snow storm. I suppose anything would be better than being killed by your own alcoholic father.
Suddenly, to the left of me I heard a low creak. Like the sound of twigs breaking under heavy feet. I was frozen in my little huddle. I was wrong, being eaten by a wild animal sounded way worse than being killed by your father, much worse.
"Edward! It's a girl!" A husky voice said. I felt a surge of happiness. I could barely feel arms under me, but he cradled me to his broad chest.
"She's cold, But she's breathing." Another spoke.
"Let's take her home." The one holding me said. Suddenly things began rushing past me. It seemed like blurs of white and grey. Not even ten minutes later we arrived at a large home, made almose entirely of glass.
The warmth of the inside of the house was not enough, I'd have had to be thrown into a fire to warm up at this point. The guy carring me took me upstairs and laid me on a table.
"Carlisle, her legs have froze. The only way is to change her." The one carrying me whispered.
"I think you're right Emmett. But what about the-" He had been cut off by a very tall, thin, bronze haired boy.
"They don't have to know we changed her. Maybe she came to us looking for answers." He said, holding a brown haired girl to his chest. "Plus, they haven't fully awakened the pack yet, there is still time to train her before they find out." The girl he held looked terrified. My mouth had almost unfroze, so works were slured together.
"I'm cold."I whispered.
"What's your name honey?" A woman asked.
"Blair A-a-a-ndrews-s-s." I studdered. The big guy who carried me, Emmett, grabbed my hand softly.
"Do something Carlisle. Please." He said, he sounded half annoyed and half upset. "But do it some place where it doesn't show!" He said.
Suddenly he lifted my left leg up and told me to close my eyes. I did, and then I opened them.
"What happen-- OH! AHHH!" I screamed. "MY BODY'S ON FIRE AHHH! HELP ME!" I sceamed. Someone was grasping my hand extreamly hard on both sides of me. They repeated the same thing over and over.
"You're okay sweetie. You're gonna be fine. I promise." They would say. What had they done? Had they given me poison? Or lit my body on fire? What kind of monster would inflict this firey death on someone? I couldn't concentrate long enough for the answer.
After what seemed like forever, the burn started to ease slightly in my feet and hands. Then the burn was gone altogether there, and in my chest the burn grew worse. With every cooled limb, the burn was worse in my heart. Now it was only my heart that burned, it was beating wildly in my chest. Then, with a thundering thud, it stopped. There was nothing, no burn, no beating, no breathing. My legs could move again, and I was warm again.
"Blair? Blair Honey?" A female voice called.
"Mom?" I whispered. I slowly opened my eyes, but I was in the same place as before. Suddenly there were voices, but no mouths were moving. They were so loud I couldn't think. "To many voices!" I yelled, holding my head.
"She's a mind reader!" A boy yelled. His name was Edward, he was one hundred and seven years old, and in love with a human girl named Bella Swan. With one thought I shut out everyother voice. Now I could turn off one person's thought's and listen to another. It was amazing.
"Blair?" Emmett asked.
"What?" I said, smelling the air. I smelled the most delicious scent in the world.
"Why do you look like that?" He asked.
