'Where is my life going?' I think while I'm in trigonometry, idly doodling in my notebook. I looked out the window from the 3rd story to see a man, his back turned towards me. I looked around my classroom; either no one else saw him or no one cared enough to say anything. I stared at him as my teacher droned on. He was sitting on the edge of the roof. He was wearing a white and red shirt will black-grey skinny jeans and had light brown hair. That's all I could see of him. He slowly stood up and before I could react, he jumped. I gasped and Mrs. Totton said, "Mrs. Dubois? What would you like to share with the class?" I pointed to the window and said, "T-This guy just jumped off the roof!" "No time for your silly jokes." "This isn't a joke!" She glared at me skeptically and went to her phone. She called the principle and told him about this. About 20 minutes later, the principal called me down to his office.
"Now Mrs. Dubois. I realize the current situation of your parents may make you want to act out, but making up stories won't solve anything. Suicide is a serious issue and must'nt be fooled around with." "But I didn't make it up!" "Maybe you should take some time off school to sort out a few things. You will be out for a month starting today on suspension." "Sir, this isn't fair!" "Mrs. Dubois, I advise you to leave now. The earlier you leave, the earlier you can come back." I groaned and left. I walked into my car and raced home. I stopped at a red light when I realized I couldn't go home- Denise couldn't know I got suspended.
I decided to drive down to the beach. In the summer, I always loved coming up here. Since it's still cold, the water was frzen over with, what I thought, was a thick layer of ice. I slid you onto the ice and suddenly, I felt the ice cracking. I started to run for the shore when the ice broke and I fell in. I tried to swim up, but my body was freezing up; I could feel my muscles reacting to the icy water. I started to fade out.
When I came back to, I felt dry land. I looked up and saw crystal blue sky. I sat up and saw a body to my left. It was a guy, lying beside me, wearing a white and red shirt, black-grey skinny jeans... Oh my god. I couldn't breathe. Was it really him? The guy from the roof? His eyes were closed and he had a slight smile on his face, "Good Morning, sleeping beauty." I gasped. I thought he was dead, honestly. He was so still, and he's so pale. He sat up and said, looking at me with his emerald green eyes, "Did you think I was dead?" I nodded and he laughed, saying, "You don't talk much do you?" I remembered to breathe and said, after taking a deep breath, "Chloe." He cocked his head to the side and I put my hand out and said "Umm... I'm Chloe." He smiled and shook my hand. He dropped his hand and I let go. He looked out to the frozen lake and setting sun and said, "I'm Austin."
