Chapter 1
Chapter 19
It was twelve o'clock on Friday. Travis and I were in the cafeteria for lunch.
"Please tell me where we are going tonight!" I have literally been asking him all morning. "Pretty please?"
"No, it's a surprise." Everytime he would talk about it, he'd smile like he was up to something.
"Meanie." I picked at my tray and played with a piece of broccoli.
"Oh, and for tonight, don't dress to casual, but not to dressy." Again with the smiling. "And I'm not telling you why either!"
I had to laugh. "Okay I won't ask anymore." Lunch was over, and it was time to go to my classes.
School passed by in a blur. Travis had was coming back for me at five. That gave me loads of time to get ready.
Not to casual, but not too dressy. I was unsure of what to wear. So I rummaged through my closet and drawers.
I did have a green sundress that I hardly ever wear. That could work. Incase it was cool, I put on my white cardigan sweater and my Ugg boots. Now that that was taken care of, I moved on to hair and make up.
For my hair, I thought I'd let it go to it's natural curl. And just to make it look decent, I added a green headband.
After almost two hours of figuring out my wardrobe, I met Travis at the door.
"Are you going to tell me where we're going now?"
"I thought you said you wouldn't ask anymore?" He laughed as he spoke. "We're almost there. You'll find out in two minutes."
I was hoping that he would tell me. But I guess not. Travis turned onto a familiar rode. There was loud music playing and cars parked down the street.
I knew where we were. But I didn't want to believe that we were actually here.
"You obviously know by now that it's a party." I believe I figured that out. "Nathan and Shelly invited me."
"Really?" If I stick to Travis all night, things should go okay. "Parties are cool."
"Great." He held my hand tightly and walked us inside. "If you want to leave at any point, just tell me."
I nodded and clutched to his side. There were so many people here. Some that I knew, and some that I haven't even seen before.
I looked down at my dress. Every single girl I saw, was wearing some sort of short, revealing party dress. I was so covered compared to them. But then again, I felt more comfortable in this.
"I'm going to find us something to eat or drink. I'll be back." There goes my plan for sticking with Travis.
"Are you lost?" I turned around. It was some senior girl from the cheerleading team.
"No why?"
"Because you're the only one dressed like a fourth grader." She started to laugh at me. "You're such a freak. If you want to fit in, try and look like the rest of us."
"If I wanted to look like you so badly, I would've dressed in a paperbag and dyed my skin orange." The look on her face was deadly. "Who's really the freak now."
"What's your name?"
"Scarlette Harris."
"I'll remember that." I laughed as she tried strutting away.
She wasn't the only person that had stared at me tonight. Everyone looked at me as if I had two heads. As I pushed through a sea of people, I felt someone put a hand on my shoulder.
"You're back-" It wasn't Travis.
"Hey babe." It was Nathan. "Why don't you come with me." He started dragging me away before I could oblige. "I'm glad that you changed your mind."
"I did not change my mind about that." He started pulling me out of the room.
"It's okay, you can admit it." He was now pulling me up the stairs. "You look hot tonight." This was so creepy. The door to his room was open, so he took me in there.
"If you don't mind I really have to get back to Travis."
"Travis can wait." I heard the door click and lock. What was he planning? "I want you." He pinned me to his bed, with him on top of me. I was starting to get nervous.
All of a sudden, he was crushing his lips to mine. I struggled in trying to get away from him. "Please, stop."
"Calm down. This will be fun." His one hand was resting on my hip, and the other was trying to pull up my dress. "Just hold still."
Panicking, I tried pushing him away or doing anything to stop him. But he was stronger than I was. The more I tossed, the angrier he got.
He started to unzip his jeans. I was getting even more nevous than before.
There was nothing I could do to stop him. He reached under my dress.
I started to cry. I was so scared and had no way of getting help. "Please stop..."
"Are you ready?" I opened my mouth to say no, but I wasn't fast enough.
The pain was unberable. My tears were pouring faster, causing my vision to blur. As it got worse, I screamed out in pain.
I felt his hand slap across my face. That made everything worse. My face was stinging. All the pain I was going through right now was horrible.
"Shut up, you've done this with Travis."
There was a knock at the door. "Nathan open up! Come let me in or I'm picking the lock!"
Since he wouldn't reply, the person at the door walked away. Why didn't he do something? I saw the doorknob jiggle a little.
"Nathan did you not- Oh my gosh what are you doing!?" Whoever it was, I thank them. "Get off of her! She's a wreck!"
I noticed that it was the new friend of Clark's that we picked up on Wednesday.
I'm guessing he pulled Nathan off of me. He got angry and walked out, just leaving me there.
"You're here with Travis right?" I was crying to much to even speak. So I nodded my head yes. "Here I'll take you to him." The new friend helped me up and down the stairs to find Travis.
We found Travis out back in a line to get food. "Hey, Travis."
He turned around. "Oh hey Drew...." His smile faded. He clearly noticed that I was with him. "What happened, are you okay?"
Again I started hysterically crying. He wrapped me in a giant hug. I tried to speak but nothing would come out.
"I found Nathan uh, you know, upstairs in his room with her." Drew spoke for me. "I suggest you take her home."
"Thank you."
I managed to whisper a thanks to Drew.
Travis walked me out. I kept stumbling and tripping, so he just carried me there.
He put me in the car and got in. "I am so, incredibly sorry."
My voice was just above a whisper. "It's not your fault."
"Yes, it is. Everytime I step away from you, something happens." I was confused when he drove the opposite direction from our houses. "I'll try and make things better."
"Can I ask where we're going?" I was so confused.
"I'm not just going to take you home and leave. It's been a little over an hour and I thought we could go somewhere nicer."
We drove to the park and started walking down the path. It was peaceful and quiet. Just us two. There was an empty bench by the lake, so we sat together.
I was still crying, but they were silent tears. Travis pulled me closer to him and I rested my head on his chest.
Travis took my face and wiped away a few tears. "Maybe the party wasn't such a good idea."
"Yeah, I guess not." I let out a slight laugh. "We can have our own party here."
"Please tell me where we are going tonight!" I have literally been asking him all morning. "Pretty please?"
"No, it's a surprise." Everytime he would talk about it, he'd smile like he was up to something.
