silver rain-(werewolves and shapeshifters in love?) part 4

i sat up dizzily and looked around the room.i was in rileys house.then last night hit me hard.i grimaced at the memories and then noticed riley sitting at the egde of the bed.i scrambled back away from him.he looked away sadly."please dont do this to me just understand"he whispered.he put his head in his hands and i watched a tear fall into his lap.
"was that you that day?"i whispered.he shook his head no."no it was someone from my pack sent to kill you"he said disgusted.i flinched backwards and my back hit the backboard with a soft thud against the wood.i moved my bangs out of my eyes and watched his back and his reflection in the mirror.his muscles were tensed and ready to spring.i looked at my own reflection.i looked feral and wild.my eyes jumped to every noice and i was half crouched on the bed.i sighed and loosened up,but only a bit.why would they want to kill me.the words seemed suspicious but i believed i had to trust riley.i forced my instincts to let me go forward and comfort Riley.he watched me in the mirror.something flashed across his eyes but it was to quick to catch.
i crawled over the bed to him and curled up by his side.his reaction was shocked and hesitant.he awkwardly wrapped his arm around me."do you think two wolves can live happily ever after?"i whispered.he shook his head and looked away"we'll find out"he said and squeezed me in reassurance.

the days dragged by. Riley more and more jumpy and nervous.he would lapse into minutes of thought.his eyes were distant and unfocused.one day when i was sitting on his bed reading he jumped up excited.i stared at him as if he was nuts.he jumped up next to me and grabbed the book out of my hands."would you like to go out for dinner?"he asked.i smiled."Riley are you asking me on a date?"i said amused.he thought about it.then said"i guess i am"i burst into laughter.between laughing and dying of not enough breath i got out"finally."he smiled "then come on."he grabbed me and pulled me out the door.
we ended up eating at a small cafe on the edge of town.i dug into my spahgetti.my mind drifted to that one night,now a painful memory in my heart.i dropped my fork not interested anymore.i stared out the foggy window into the night.i heard Riley's voice through the fog in my head.i snapped my head to him to late."yes?"i saaid.he looked at me sadly."what are you thinking about?"so he had noticed my absence from dinner.i dropped my gaze."im sorry"i whispered.he changed the subject."wanna go to the parade there having tonight?its gonna be right outside "he whispered.i didn't see why not so i just stood.he put down the bill and tip and we left.
the crowd outside was thick with excited people and i choked on all the scents.i was woozy and the noise and brightly lit surroundings made my head swim.i leaned onto rileys shoulder.he held my there and then whispered"is it to much?"i shook my head and stood straight."no its okay".i whispered.i didn't want to ruin his fun so i turned and smiled.it was forced but it worked.then he his snapped up.i turned the way he was looking but it was only trees.he ducked his head down."i have to go the bathroom."he pushed his way through the crowd before i could react.
RILEY'S P.O.V
i skirted the crowd till i reached the tree line.i felt them waiting for me.i stepped into the trees making sure none had followed me.there still forms were there standing silently."we expect you too have her ready by tomorrow"said the tallest one.but i wouldnt let them have her i thought to myself.the thought of their gruimy hands on her made me hesitate.the one with the silver eyes sneered"why the hesitation?do you already lover her?"he spit.i was in his face in a flash.i stared into the swirling depths of his eyes."do NOT ecuse me of love!"i snarled and stepped back.his eyes reflected the truth.he knew i was in love with her.the tall one stepped betwwen us."just have her ready?"he growled and they dissapeared into the dfarkness.
ARINS P.O.V
the cold breeze stirred the trees around me as i watched riley leave the woods.his shoulders were tense and rigid.i let out a snarl and punched the tree in front of me.riley spun around and i ducked behind a tree.he shook his head and ducked into the crowd.i fisted my hands.how could i sit here and watch riley hurt ahana.i loooked at the brightly colored floats and cheering people.i will tell ahana,and i will kill riley.i WILL not let him hurt her if it means my life.
AHANAS P.O.V
the crowd was nauseating and i couldnt be in there anymore.i dove through the crowd and swiped at someone who elboed me in the ribs.im stumbled out of the crowd and ran up a small hill to a small copse of trees.i colapsed on my but in the soft leaves that littered the ground.i took i deep breaths ansd staedied myself on the ground.a crack of a branch behind me made me jump up dizzily.i held onto a tree unsure if would be able to defend myself in this state.
the ground seemed to shift under me as i caught there scent,werewolf.my stomach threatned to empty itself.i lurched backwards away from them and one with silver eyes stared at me intently.his eyes reminded me of my pack.each of there remarkable eye colors that were made to match there soul.a tall burly figure stepped forward"how nice to finally meet you ahana"he said.i shuddered at how he said my name.the one i decided to call silver eyes locked eyes with me"yes what a pretty name you have,and what pretty eyes."his voice was laced with poison and i lowered my gaze.i heard a soft growl rise from him and a snarl as the taller one elboed him in the ribs to make him quit.
i gasped as arms pulled me back and riley stepped in front of me."leave"he growled in a warning.silver eyes looked at me once and turned to riley with a cold glare.the tall one pushed him away laughing"nice job,make her fall hard"he said hungrily.riley flinched and they dissapeared in a flick of their cloaks.
riley rushed me back to my house in my car.his hands were clenched over the steering wheel and he sped down the dark road his jaw tight with nanger.i held my palms against the dashboard nauseaus.riley looked at me out of the corner of his eye."whats wrong?"he asked.i cleared my throat."i think there was a flower that my kind is weak to,kid of like a poison,that they had on the floats.its still in my system and i just feel sick"i said.he nodded"are you going to be okay?"he asked.i turned to him.his face seemed to glow in the mooonlight.but he seemed sinister with the dark shadows the light threw on him.the shadows that hid many things from me."yes"i whispered and he didnt seem to notice my answer.i sunk back into the seat and rolled down the window letting the cold night air blast my face.the two dark figures were the only thing on my mind.there mysterious presence and Riley's reaction made me nervous.i twirled a strand of my hair around my finger."Riley who was the one with the silver eyes?"i asked.i felt the feeling in the car darken and thicken.his hands were so tight on the steering wheel he would end up snapping it for sure.his own mood seemed to infect mine and i felt my canines gnash together."no one important"he whispered.i knew i wasn't going to get a answer but all i could think about was those silver eyes penetrating my own.his stealthy expression and reaction to how Riley acted towards them when he came for me.
we pulled up into my driveway which surprised me.the house was dark and looked empty but i knew better.i stayed frozen in my seat and Riley had to open my door for me.i stepped out warily and the hair on my arms stood up.i shivered and Riley looked at me."this IS your house you know"he said.i looked at him and glared.he shook his head and opened the front door.we walked up the dark staircase and i perked my ears for a shuffle of feet or any sound of someone being home.but there was none.this made me uneasy everyone usually was home at this time.
i stepped into the living room and automatically the lights turned on and blinded me.i stepped back just as a chorus of voices rang in my ears"happy birthday!"i yelped and bumped backwards into Riley.he caught both of my arms and steadied me as my eyes adjusted to the light.my whole pack stood in the living room.their faces were aglow with pride at what they had accomplished.i stared at them confused and noticed for the first time that day it was my birthday.violet ran up to me and spun me around in a hug.she stepped back and handed me a small box with a bow on it.
then i felt all eyes wander to Riley and he stepped back into the shadows of the hall.his golden eyes glinted through the darkness.they all stiffened and i turned to them."this may not be the best time to say this but this is Riley hes a werewolf but please dont jump to conclusions hes not what he seems."the air in the room changed from warm and cheery to cold and hostile. Erik stood in the corner bristling.thats when i noticed Arin wasn't there.i heard the front door bang against the wall as Arin stormed in like a hurricane.his blue eyes were on fire.he glared at Riley."how dare you lie to her and betray her!?you were going to give her to your pack!i overheard you in the woods earlier talking to those two hooded guys!"he snarled.i stared at Riley in a daze.how could he?the present in my hands fell to the floor.how could such a happy mood change so quickly? Riley's eyes narrowed at Arin and he turned to me pleading"please dont think that way i wasn't going to let them have you please..."he whispered urgently.i stepped away from him."how could you?after all this?leave me alone Riley!"i screamed and ran upstairs.i slammed my door and fell onto the wood floor on my hands and knees sobbing.downstairs i heard the thuds of people moving around and someone say"but we didn't even eat cake?"i banged my fist against the floor and heard the front door slam.a shaft of light washed over me as someone opened the door.arins hand touched my shoulder and i snarled through my tears"dont touch me!"he hesitated then strode out closing the door behind him.i tried to sleep but my broken heart wouldn't let me. but neither did.ha what a nice birthdayi thought to myself.i lay there in a ball in a living nightmare hoping death or sleep would come
