Hang On!!!
The comparisons are from my old Science program from CLP, booklet 1 [1001 Taxonomy: Key to Organization], section IV.
The bold and bold italics ones are my additions to their work....
Chapter 1
Hang On!!! What was That?!
(The Original Comparison was between Creation and Evolution. I did not include the many verses they did in their comparisons.)
"Some Basic Comparisons of Two Models of Origin."
Method: 1. Out of nothing 2. Works of god's hands 3. The word--Jesus Christ 4. Miracles
Method: 1. Out of Nothing 2. Work's of Eurynome's Hands 3. The Word--the oral tales of the Gods and Goddesses, including Eurynome (also known as Nyx) [gives a new meaning to "living word" if it's spoken, doesn't it?
Time: 1. Began thousands of years ago. 2. Six days for entire Creation.
Time: 1. Unnecessary to know the time of. Also, the Young Earth concept is not a Biblical idea, but a man-made one. 2. Moments for entire Creation. Later myths say that Prometheus made Humans, though early myths tell of an Early Man roaming across the land beforehand.
Order: 1. Grass and trees 2. Water creatures, birds, and whales 3. Cattle, land beasts, creeping things. 4. Man 5. Orderly, planned occurence.
Order: 1. Grass and trees 2. Water [Ocean], water creatures 3. Land beasts, "creeping things," Titans, Cyclopes, Hundred-Handed Ones 4. Olympians, Man 5. Orderly occurence.
Continuity: 1. One original Creation, then god rested. 2. Laws of genetics produced variations of basic kinds. 3. Natural selection is the removal of weak or abnormal individuals; does not bring about speciation.
Continuity: 1. One original Creation, with the later addition of the Golden Age of mortals. 2. Laws of genetics produced variations of basic kinds. 3. Natural selection is the removal of weak or abnormal individuals; does not bring about speciation.
Purpose: 1. To declare the glory of god. 2. To express the love of god to and through man. 3. A creation for man to have dominion over. 4. Taught by Scripture; supported by science.
Purpose: 1. To see the glory that was the Creation of the Goddess Eurynome with the Gods and Goddesses. 2. To share in the splendour of the world, to feel the beauty of Life. [Then the Golden Age became the Silver, and so on....] 3. A creation for Man to live in with the Gods and Goddesses....then we turned our backs. 4. Taught by the Living Word of the Gods and Goddesses--Oral Tradition with later written recordings of the Tales. Supported by science in the facts of life [Though you really have to know the Tales and be on the lookout in Science to be able to pick out the parallels between it and the Greek Tales, since most postings of science are geared so to Evolution exclusively, or bashing christianity].
Taxonomy: 1. A forest of life, each a separate kind.
Taxonomy: 1. A forest of life, each a separate kind.
As the Greeks were around considerably longer than Judaism was even beginning to form, is anyone else seeing what I'm seeing?
My additions to the work are my own, and no one else's, though I'm sure many others have made these comparisons. This particular one though isn't copied from anywhere--it's my work. Which means that I may have erred once or twice. I'm not perfect, nor do I hold all the answers---and I won't claim to. But this is something that has bugged me for a while, so I wanted to get it out there for the world to see if they chose. Please tell me what you think of it....No flames please. Calm rational arguments get the point across better, and more people are willing to listen.
*Note: The reasons and statements I make in comparison to theirs are not just my personal reasons and statements. They come from reliable sources both online and in books, that I have read and seen to be true.
