Chapter 1

Chapter 1: I'm pretty sure people don't just fall out of the sky!

The audience before us stood up clapping, yelling, and cheering after we had performed. My chest was rising and falling quickly as hitting the high C note was clearly a victorious win, especially since I was not able to hit that note before. Isle was smiling generously, giggling now and then. Miku was bowing slightly embarrassed at the huge applause, and me? Well, I was waving out to everyone with a huge grin on my face, the one you might get as if you had just won the lottery or something. Of course, I was like this every time we performed. Miku, Isle, and I form a singing group popularly known as Ai a kanji symbol meaning love in Japanese. The origin of the name starts at the beginning of each story hidden behind the smiles we put on every day of our lives. We are called Ai because it was the thing that we three girls needed the most... to be loved. You see... we are orphans living together in a house paid by our so called foster parents and going to a school-excuse me, academy that we can barely afford which is why we started singing in the first place. The past is something that has greatly scarred us for a while, probably the rest of our lives, but for me... I seem to get by; maybe that's why people referred to me as Shiroi Ai or light love, but most people like to call me Hikari or Kari for short aka light or light hearted. I seem to see light in every situation and in every person, even in the people this story is created about, the people unaware of this world, the pure hearted and the overwhelmed, the one heart I managed to fall in love with, the missing piece that was reconnected after so many years. A treacherous journey bringing many tears smiles and drama seemed to start with the brightest purest star in the sky...
The stars were so shiny when all the lights were off, but something was different about the starry sky tonight, like a new star appeared in the sky that shined brighter than the rest, even in the glare of the shiny city lights of Nuveno."Hey Kari, Isle and I are going to the grocery store to pick up more food you wanna come?" Sighing heavily looking freaked out just by glancing at the engine of the shiny moving vehicle, I quickly shook my head, "Thanks for the offer guys, but I'll meet you back at the house, you know me and- your fear of moving vehicles," Isle finished rolling her eyes. Yes, I did have a fear of moving vehicles, especially cars, which I have a good reason for it too, long story short, it was a car accident, where it seems I was a medical miracle according to doctors and my parents, they went to a happy place somewhere in the sky. "Okay Kari make it back safely Hun," nodding brightly I nodded waving them off as I began my walk to our home.
The rain pattered lightly against the window panes of the small house I currently resided in. Sighing and grumbling angrily with the weather I headed upstairs to take a nap. Luckily, today was Friday, the only day of the week where I could stay up as late as I wanted and sleep in as much as I wanted the next day. Since we had the gig straight after school that started at 5 pm and lasted until 10 pm; it made me want to go to sleep. My eyes suddenly felt heavier than usual as my fatigue was beginning to hit me. Even though I wanted to stay up and wait for my two best friends to come back home my body gave in and I fell into a deep slumber.
The moment I closed my eyes everything felt peaceful like every negative thing never occurred in my life. Opening my eyes slowly expecting my rain covered windows, but instead I found myself lying on a stained glass platform, darkness surrounding the colorful circle. I slowly stood up before my body froze slightly. My eyes wandered around the platform to show a picture of a girl with long brown hair in an unconscious state, eyes closed in a floating position with her arms out holding another floating object. Squinting hard, I began to realize the object was a sparkling heart. Pointing at the shimmering heart was an over-sized image of a red and black intricate looking key. As my eyes continued to observed, another realization hit me; that the girl in the image looked exactly like me! Which could mean one of many things: that someone is trying to find the key to my heart in a romantic way, someone is trying to find the key to my heart to use it and break it, or someone is trying to steal it, which could be good or bad depending on the story behind the image beneath me. My eyes widened in surprise and before anything could come out of my mouth, chains shot out of the darkness and wrapped around my paralyzed body. The platform began to glow from beneath me as I attempted to shield my eyes from the light. The key from the crystal glass image shot out of the platform shattering the rest of the image and rose pointing towards me. It began to emit an orb of light while making a high pitched noise as if warming up before it was going to shoot me. I closed my eyes desperately trying to wake myself up from this terrible nightmare that almost felt too real to be a dream. The key began to finally shoot the beam of light as I closed my eyes waiting for the impact to hit me when everything suddenly froze once more. The chains broke from my body turning into a shimmering white dust and the light disappeared in the blink of an eye. Everything was silent, when suddenly my body felt like it was being thrown back.
My eyes shot open along with my body as my lungs gasped for the open air in my room. The room was silent for the only noise that was heard was my heavy intakes of oxygen. I blinked a few times and looked down at my wrist as if I was reassuring that my nightmare had never happened to me. "Well, that was... interesting," As I stood up to walk downstairs to the kitchen for a glass of sanity, my room began to rumble, causing things on shelves to shake slightly. I paused shaking my head 'It's just me' I thought silently before things began to fall off the shelves around my room. Suddenly the shakes got so violent it made me hug the floor down below me, "What the heck is going on here?!" I screamed as I was getting up off the floor. Just as I had raised my voice everything stopped. Looking around the room I sighed, "Wow what the-CRASH!" I fell back down on my butt as a huge ball of objects fell through the roof above my room... and through the floor of my room... all the way down to the kitchen. A clear gap was sent through the whole back of the house from the roof to the kitchen. My mouth hung agape as I looked at the hole shocked. My feet were moving down the stairs faster than I was able to think at the moment. Running to the kitchen was a challenge as I attempted to avoid splinters and stone gravel spread out on the floor. Grunts were heard from the kitchen along with a clang of metal objects now and then. My speed slowed a bit as I got nearer to the kitchen. I grabbed a porcelain vase from the shelf that seemed to be broken now. I gulped leaning against the wall praying before I turned around and went into the kitchen only to feel faint. There was a boy with blond spiky hair that leaned slightly to the left with a key shaped object in his hand his blue sapphire eyes sparkling with determination. The other boy was a complete opposite of the blond. He had spiky black hair that stuck up in all different directions with piercing golden eyes shaded over by the hatred for the boy in front of him. His most distinctive feature would have to be the overgrown object in his hand which could only be described as...a red and black intricate key. These boys were in a major battle, a battle that could wind up injuring them, or worse, it could be death of both of them. An intense battle that was currently... well... in the middle of my kitchen. "Hmph you're a weakling why don't you just give up?" the golden eyes spoke, arrogantly swinging his key in the air. "I will never give in!" the blond retorted as the clashing began again. I clenched my fists at the sight of my kitchen, "THAT IS QUITE ENOUGH OF THIS!" I threw the vase right in-between both of the boys. "Who the hell are you?" the golden eyes snarled, "Who am I?! Who the heck are you?" The blond looked up at me and sighed, "Oh boy..." I nodded knowingly, "Oh boy is right, I hope you're ready to clean this big mess up," Then out of nowhere two people, an aqua haired girl and a tall brunette man fell, out of the hole through the roof.
"Ven," the aqua girl ran up to blond boy hugging him tightly. The brunette looked at me and my breath got caught up in my throat. There was no way this was actually happening, "Darien?" the man looked at me confused, "Uh no I'm Terra," Well, it wasn't who I thought it was, but it sure was a look alike; embarrassed I coughed, "Right, um and you are?" the girl turned to look at me and smiled, "Aqua," I looked between all of them sighing, "Okay, I need all of you to just calm down and take a breather while dropping your weapons," golden eyes glared at me, "Forget it, if they let me go I'll put away my weapon," so since my talking wasn't working out, I did something drastically risky. I took in a deep breath before walking over to the golden eyed boy and glaring at him, "Drop your weapon now," "What are you gonna do girly break my nail?" For the first time, I realized that his golden eyes were a lot more intimidating up close then they were far away. Sighing out of frustration and fear, I reached my hand to grab his blade in which I did successfully. "What the hell are you doing?!" he yelled trying to pull it out of my grip, "I'm not going to let you hurt anyone else anymore," the key blade shook a little before pointing to my chest. I gasped as the key blade suddenly had a mind of its own, "So you're the girl I need to get the heart from..." the boy plastered on a creepy smile and he stopped resisting my grasp on the weapon. When he let go, I pulled the weapon into me, crashing down into the messy tile floor beneath me. It began to wildly thrash in my hands as it lit up, then out of nowhere chains sprang out to cuff around my hands. My hands tried to slip away from the cuffs, but struggling was obviously not an option. "Terra, Ven come on," the aqua haired lady bent down beside me with a key looking weapon of her own and tried to cut the chains by bashing them numerous times. At this point their attempts only made the grip tighten painfully, "It's no use, the chains won't budge," the brunette man yelled. Then a powerful force pushed all three of them back into the wall. The black and red key finally ceased the shaking, but began emitting a high pitched noise like a weapon that's being powered up. A white light began to form at the tip of the key. A beam shot out so quickly I had no time to scream for help. This was exactly like my dream or rather my nightmare, every piece was being put together in my mind when it finally occurred to me, someone wanting my heart so much they have to chain me up and point a key laser at me to steal... well... it must be a very unfortunate situation on my behalf. My eyes shut tightly preparing for an impact that could pierce through my chest, but strangely enough, I felt nothing, no pain at all. As I opened my eyes, the beam from the key shot off my chest and into the ground creating a super explosion of light that blinded everyone. Moments after the impact of light, my eye lids became too heavy to keep open. The very last thing I remembered was the chains breaking off my wrists and the shouts of my name before suddenly fading into a pure dark void of nothingness.
