Chapter 1

Off To Boarding School. Yay?

Ugh. I did NOT want to go to boarding school. I liked my friends at my old school...but of course, I got kicked out. Anyway, my parents are rich. They don't spoil me though. And I would NEVER be one of those snotty rich kids. They're so annoying.
We arrived at Lakeside Preparatory School. It was 4 stories tall. It had many small windows and was Gothic-style. There was a large court yard in the front and a huge lake a ways in the back.
I got out of the car. Then, I went to the trunk and got out my 2 teal suitcases and couple of other bags. I set them by the side of the car. The car door was still open and I leaned into it.
"Bye mom. Bye dad." I said.
"Yes. Goodbye, Honey." replied my dad as my mom waved.
I closed the door. My parents were always really busy. Then, I grabbed my stuff and headed up the steps to the school. I took a really deep breath and walked inside. I walked into the first door in the hallway. It said 'OFFICE' above the door. I sat down in a chair in front of a desk.
"Hello. I am Headmistress West. Here is everything you will need here at Lakeside Preparatory School." She handed me a giant binder and a bunch of books. "It includes a book for every subject you are taking, your class schedule, a student handbook, a map of the school grounds, and other necessities. You will be in dorm J, room 2."
"Thank you." I said while grabbing my stuff and leaving.
I walked out of the office, took a few steps, and stopped. I set my stuff down. Then, I found the map of the school ground and looked at it. Dorm J was on the 3rd floor. Oh great. I had to carry all my stuff up the stairs. I grabbed my stuff again and walked down the hallway to the stairs.
I sighed and started climbing. It was hard. I had to take one suitcase and a few other things up a few steps, then get my other stuff. After about 15 minutes of doing that, I got to the top. And I was only on the second floor! I turned to start going up the stairs to the third floor when I ran into something. I fell backwards and landed on one of my bags.
"Ughh." I heard someone next to me say.
I looked to my side. A guy was laying next to me on top of one of my toppled suitcases. He had shaggy, dirty blond hair and hazel eyes. He quickly stood up.
"I'm sorry!" He said, holding his hand out to help me up.
I grabbed his hand and he pulled me up. He seemed to be about an inch taller than me.
"It's fine. I wasn't paying attention." I said with a small smile.
"So...You new?" He asked.
"Yeah." I replied. "I just got here about half an hour ago."
"Cool. I'm Alex."
"I'm Taylor."
"Here. Let me help you with your bags."
"No, I can get it."
"Come on." He said picking up one of my suitcases and two bags. "So what dorm are you in?"
"J." I said, grabbing my other stuff.
"Hey! Me too. Maybe I can show you around." He said looking at me.
"Yeah." I said.
We climbed up the stairs mostly in silence. It only took a few minutes to get up this time. I was happy it was a lot easier and quicker. We walked down the hall about halfway, then stopped at a door.
"Here we are. Your new home, sweet, home." Alex said.
He opened the door. We walked in. It was a big room. It had a T.V., couch, two chairs, a pool table, and a coffee table.
"Sweet." I said.
"I know." said Alex. "So...what room are you in?"
"Ummm...room 2."
"Great."
We went down one of two hallways. On one side of the hallway were rooms 1 and 2. On the other side were room 3 and a bathroom. We walked into room 2, which was at the end of the hallway on the left.
"Your lucky. You'll have the room to yourself." said Alex as he set my stuff by one of the three beds.
"Nice." I said, doing the same.
"Well. I guess I'll leave you to unpack. And I'll probably be in the living room if you need me." he said turning and smiling at me as he left the room.
"Okay." I said.
The room looked empty. I looked at my watch. It was 6:34. I sighed and started unpacking my stuff.
I put my clothes in my closet first. Then I took out some pictures that I had of my old friends. I set them on my bedside table. I got out all of my other stuff and put them where they belong. I looked at my watch again when I finished. 7:51. It had taken me about an hour to put my stuff away. I flopped down on my bed and listened to my mp3 player, thinking about how life was going to be here.
