Chapter 1

Animal Testing

by: DayGlow
This is MY opinion on animal testing alright?

So I was looking at some make up tutorials on youtube... after all, I am a girl. and I came across a video about animal testing. Now, before I go on, go into your bathroom and look at the brand name. Now, look for the COMPANY name. Ex, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, etc. Aren't a lot of the products made by the same company? Shocking, really. Even more shocking that Dove does animal testing. For goodness sakes, IAMS does animal testing! Isn't Iams PRO-ANIMAL!?

So I decided to look it up. I went on the PETA website (Peta.org) and looked at their list of companies that do animal testing, and ones that don't. Surprisingly, a LOT of famous companies do animal testing, and we don't even know it.

Now, now. I know what a lot of you are thinking. "Is she going to rant about this ALL day?!" No, I'm not. I'm simply giving my opinion. And I'm going to continue.

I'm an animal lover. I eat meat, but I'm still an animal lover. I watched Forks over Knives, and now I'm going Veg, but this is about Animal testing.

First off. Look at, let's say for example, a rabbit. Their body systems, skin, eyes, everything is different. But they still do testing. Why?

If they're so different, won't we get different results?

Yes. We will. We will usually get different results if the mammals are completely different organisms. So why do it?

Most testers say it will give them an example of how it would hurt, affect, etc. us, but if our systems aren't the same, how can they be sure? Are they All-knowing, All-powerful? No? Didn't think so.

Can't we just test on humans? No? They're too important? How so? We destroy the planet, pollute, slaughter, etc. Why are we so great.

Now, I'm going to use our History as an example. We kept slaves, slaughtered millions in war, tortured and abused other humans in the past. THAT'S not okay is it?

So if that's not okay, then testing on a Mama Rabbit by putting lipstick in her eyes, injecting a new bug spray formula into her veins and then putting a new skin creme on her bare skin is? What about after all that you breed her for more test subjects. Is that okay?

We wouldn't DARE think about doing that to a human. Well, psycho murderers and sick people would. Woah there, I'm kidding. Mostly.

Anyways, this video is what got to me. I cried. I screamed. I convulsed and puked a little. Having two cats at home, the cat part made me cry even harder, although the whole thing is very horrible.

There's a part 2 by the way... Anyways, I know it's old, but I did a little research.

Turns out, companies like Unilever and Johnson & Johnson (there's a WHOLE LOT MORE on PETA.org) still do this today. So as you are reading this, hundreds of thousands of animals are being tested on RIGHT NOW. And I've got another question. Why would you put lipstick in your eye? Seems a little odd to me.

I'm not trying to get you to stop using this stuff, or to be vegan, or anything like that. I'm merely stating that it doesn't make sense to me and that it makes me quite sick.

It also confuses me. Lipstick in a rabbits eye? And those poor rats getting burnt alive... Oh my.

Anyways, I'm curious to see what your guys' opinion on the topic is. If you have a different opinion, I ENCOURAGE you to post your opinion, as long as it's an intelligent response and not some rude insult, thank you very much.
