This is a story about love and loss. It takes place on an island in Hawaii. Sarah Monroe just moved to Kaua'i to live with her grandmother, Adele after her parents die in a tsunami in California. She's been scared of the water ever since. Will the small town of Kapa'a change her?
Moving was possibly the worst thing that could happen to me. I'm surrounded by water. Grandma was happy I was there. I haven't seen her since I was 3. My cousin Keoki lives with Grandma too. His parents died in a car accident. I suppose I could woman up and deal with it. I am sixteen after all. My Grandma tells me I'm just like my mother. I don't learn to trust quickly and I (used to) have a love for the water. We decided to go to the beach. I was outnumbered.
