It doesn't matter what other people say, they're just jealous that they don't make as great of quizzes or stories. Just don't listen to them. It's up to you how many quizzes/stories/questions you want to create.

If something isn't what I'm particularly interested in- I don't complain because they could make awesome other stories/quizzes- and I casually delete the messages with no fuss. I try to take as many quizzes sent to me that I can though but sometimes I have no time :)

I don't know why they make friends then...But yeah, I agree with you completely! If I don't like the sound of that invite, or that story wasn't great, I just delete the invite, no problem. I don't get what the fuss is for others at all! :)
