Chapter 1
Horse and Rider
I'm running for my life, and I know I'm going to die. So why am I still running?
"Get back here!" the baker behind he yelled.
So I stoll one loaf of bread, big deal. It's not like it's the last one in the world. He was getting closer. I ran a little faster, hoping to get away. Who knew bakers could run so fast? After a while, he started huffing. This was my chance to get away. If I could just run a little faster for a little longer. But I guess luck wasn't on my side today. I would have been able to get away if there wasn't a cliff. I lurched to a stop before I ran right off it. The baker was getting closer, and that's when I noticed he had a knife. Great. So, I had two choices. I could either jump off a cliff - and probably die. Or, I could stay here and try to fight - and probably die. I jumped.
'Why do I have such a headache?' I asked myself while waking up from unconsiousness. Everything was starting to come back. When I remembered jumping off a cliff, I answered myself, 'Oh.' I looked up at the cliff, only to find it wasn't there. "Did I miss something?" I asked myself aloud, a sign I hit my head to hard. I got up and looked around. Trees. Lots and lots of trees. Then I noticed something that shouldn't be there. A lamp post, with a single flame burning. I couldn't help myself, and I walked over to it. It almost felt... magical being around it. I put my warm fingers to the cool surface of the lamp post. Nothing happened. Of course nothing happened. Still, I felt a little disapointed. But then, I heard the sound of a horse not to far off. If I was lucky, the sound would be getting farther away. But I wasn't lucky. The horse was getting closer. I was suddenly frightened. Before I could fine a place to hide, the horse emerged from the trees. And so did the rider.
