Chapter 1

Two Weeks

by: BakaGreen
Her hair was tightly braided against her head, it was still wet and tiny drips of water marred the back of her t-shirt. The scent of chlorine still clung to her even after an extra long shower. She wrung out her swimsuit before hanging on the the shower rod. It was only eight and she couldn't go to sleep, she couldn't think of anything to do as she walked back to her room. Her room didn't seem like herself anymore, a ghost of who she once was. Swimming medals, trophies and paraphenalia littered her room along with photo's of her and...Kevin.

It had barely been two weeks and still the name was hard to swallow; like a sandwich with too much peanut butter. She looked around the room and found a too large sweat shirt. Quickly she put it on and hugged herself even though it wasn't cold, it just felt good to be wrapped in something. She made her way over to her bed and checked her phone. No messages. She sighed and slammed it on the nighstand, before bringing her knees to her chest.

Time passed and she just sat there. Tommorow was the first day of her Senior Year. It was supposed to be awesome this year. Her classes were all advanced, her SAT scores through the roof and not to mention record swim times. She had gotton an early acceptance to Stanford along with a scholarship for swimming because of all this.

"Liesl?" she heard her mom call, she made no attempt to answer. The door opened anyway and her mom walked in. Her mother definetly was not a 'soccer mom'. She was a partner at a law firm in town. She always wore a suit and her hair was short and the same blonde as Anneliese's locks. "Are you excited for school tommorow?" she asked sitting next to her on the bed. She waited for an answer before patting her daughter's knee. "It's gonna be tough, but you're a strong girl. You'll make it, just like me,"

Anneliese didn't want to answer. It had been three months since the 'accident' and two weeks since his death. "Your just tired, you probably worked out hard. I'll turn out the light when I leave and you can go to sleep," she patted her daughter knee , not knowing what to say. Three months ago she was completely different, so full of life, so upbeat. Now she could barely get two sentences out of her. Reluctantly she left the room and turned off the light leaving her daughter to have a restless slumber.
