Shaela is an extraordinary girl in an ordinary world. Her society is one of boredom and routine. Long ago, America wasn't so hypocritical and full of dullness. People believed in free thinking, not that everything God said was right and everything else was sinful and wrong. That is the sort of world Shaela Zuletide lives in. The old free thinking world is the one she belongs in. But when things started to get bad and different races and religions were resorting to extreme violence, something had to be done. So the president at the time did something horrible.
The president said that nobody was allowed opinions anymore. He decided that everyone would worship one God and be one race. Anyone of a different race than White and/or anyone who refused to obey was excecuted. Now everyone is White and they all worship sweet baby Jesus. Shaela's world is this now. It's horrible...and someone like Shaela isn't normal in that world.
