Chapter 1
"I lost the only person that was ever there for me. I lost my mother, guardian, but most of all I lost my best friend."
It all happened so fast. I was at Jamie's house waiting for Max to get there with the pizza when my phone began to ring. I saw my mother's name illuminate the screen of my phone. I answered it immediately, but I was not greeted by my mother's voice. Instead I was greeted by an unfamiliar voice which was distinguishable as male.
"Ma'am are you Elegance Criss?"
I replied with a simple "yes" as the man continued to speak. He asked me if I was indeed the daughter of Melanie Criss, and I once again confirmed. What he said next completely shattered my world.
"I'm sorry to inform you of this Ma'am, but you're mother was in a car accident." My thoughts were all a blur as he spoke the words that killed me.
**************************************3 hours later**************************************
I'm currently sitting on a bench at the police station. I'm waiting as they try and contact the rest of my family, and I know that while their doing this their also looking for the next person in line to take care of me. I can't believe she's gone. She's gone. She's really gone, and I can't bring her back this time. How do you cope with this?
No, no, she's not gone. She can't be. NO! What am I going to do? What's out there for me now? "Miss? We need you to come with us please." Great, another damned officer! What do they want me to do now?! I've already told them everything! Do they honestly need to make this any worst for me than it already is!?
********************************2 hours later*******************************************
I don't remember everything they asked me. They mostly asked me useless question which held no relevance to the situation at all, but I can't tell you what they were. Hell, I can barley tell you my name, let alone remember stupid questions. All I know for sure is that I'm all alone now.
I do remember however hearing them say something about a brother. But they must be confused, I'm an only child, at least I think I am. Another officer walks past and gives me that same look. I don't know exactly what it holds. It looks like pity, but then it looks like annoyance. Ugh! This is so not helping me get my mind off of things. Ellie think! What always gets your mind of things? Music! I reach to my bag on the left side of me and pull out my Ipod. I stuff my earbuds in and select my favorite playlist. The one titled "Inspiration."
I instantly want to cry again when I here the first song. It's. Scratch that. It was our song. We used to sing it whenever things would get rough. And now I'd be singing it alone. I wanted to skip it. I wanted to forget, but instead I found myself lip synching along. "There's been trials and tribulations. You know I've had my share, But I've climbed the mountain, I've crossed the river, And I'm almost there, I'm almost there. I'm almost there!"
"Elegance Criss?" A voice rang through the corridor where I was seated, and my head snapped up. I stood up and walked towards the owner of the voice. He looked familiar. Like creepily familiar. His hair, it was curly like my mom's, his eyes resembled my fathers, although I'd only seen him in a picture, but I knew that this guy looked like my dad. Who is he!?
"You must be Elegance, right?" He offered me his hand and I shook it.
"I'm Darren. Darren Criss. I'm your brother." Wait, what. No, no, no. He's not, he can’t be. What if he is?
"Um, hi? I'm Elegance, but you already knew that. Um.....I...I..Why are you looking for me?" Whoa, was that MY voice? I sound so broken and fragile
"They called me. They told me that she was gone, and that I was to take care of you. Look, um, are you okay. You look sick." How is he so calm? He acts like everything is fine. "I'm fine." Wait, did he say that he was to take care of my, AND that he's my brother. Why's the room blurry? And why am I spinning. Oh, boy I think I better sit down.
"Whoa! Hey, hey, hey. Let's get somewhere to sit." He helped me move over to a bench, and crouched down in front of me. "Do you need anything; Water or something?" Yea, I need my mom back. "No, thank you." We sat there in silence until I heard the buzz of a cellphone. It’s not mine so it must be his.
He looked at the text and replied. He then let out an exasperated sigh. "We have to get going." I didn't reply this time. I just stood up, grabbed my bag, and walked up the corridor. He followed close behind me as if I was some celebrity and he was my body guard. As we walked I couldn't help but notice the looks people gave us. They looked at 'Darren' like he was some sort of God.
Hold up. Darren Criss. Where have I heard that name before? StarKid! OMWG! He's THE Darren Criss. And he's my BROTHER! What is going on here??!!? I feel like I'm in one of those lame corny drama movies. Maybe this is just a dream! I'll pinch myself. OWW! Okay, never mind.
We approached his car and he opened the passenger door for me. I slipped into the seat. He got in and started the car. "We're going to drop by your house so you can pack." Pack? Why do I need to pack? "What do you mean?" He hesitated before he said, "You need to pack so that you can prepare to move in with me after the funeral?" Move in with him; after the funeral? That’s only four days away. So, I've got less than four days to pack up my belongings and move on with my life. Great! This is fvcking FANTASTIC! I severely hope you caught on to that sarcasm.
We pulled into the drive way to see candles, pictures, balloons, and all kinds of little sentiments that people had left to mourn my, I mean OUR mother. At that moment it really sunk in, and I lost it. I burst into tears and feel to the ground. I felt arms wrap around me and pull me close. I could feel wetness on my neck, and that’s when I noticed he was crying too.
~* And that's chapter one! I hope you all enjoyed it, and I'm already working on chapter two! I sincerely apologize for the LONG wait, but I'm trying to do better. I managed to finish editing this one, despite the fact that have a stomach virus. Chapter uploads should be more recent, but have to work it around my schedule. I have physical therapy everyday so that takes up time, but I will be uploading this story as much as possible. Thank you guys for all your love and support.

Elegance, thats such a pretty name ^_^
Yay, awesome! I love how this is different.;)
Thanks. It took a while to get used to it, but now I love my name! I'm glad you like the concept. I wanted to do something different from the normal StarKid stories. Not that there's anything wrong with them because I love them. I just wanted to change it up. :D
Wow!!! I love this!!! Next please!!! Poor Elegance and Darren :((((
Thank you. I'm glad you feel that way. I'm trying my hardest to have chapter two up soon. :D
This is really good! I like how you've come up with a different idea for a StarKid story, not that the other ideas are bad but it's cool how you thought of something different. It's sad, but amazing! Next please!
Thank you. I really tried to do something different. I'm glad you like it. :D
Elegance, I love it. It's amazing so far. Thanks for the shout-out:)

You're welcome, and thank you so much. It was a thank you for all that you've done and continue to do for me. You're a really amazing person Geena. Thank you once again. :)
Awww! you're so welome! I'm so happy to be there for you.
This is a really awsome story. Next chapter, please.
Thanks I appreciate it. :)
:*( That's so sad.
It is, yes, but sometimes the things that make us sad make us stronger as well.
Yeah. Some of the sadest things in my life have been a path to something better.
AH! I just started to cry a bit! :(
It's really good. I love that I'm in it, making you feel a bit better:)
But quick question, is there a reason that you and Darren start hating each other? Or is it just cause? Just curious :P
Good question, but all I can say is that you'll find out. Everything I write has a reason, whether or not you may know it. ;)
Aww sad
That is the second time I teared up a little because of a story on here
So congratulations :')
Aww! I'm glad it connected to you on that emotional level.
:*( I'm crying right now, it's that sad.
It's easy for me to write this mostly because I'm feeding off of my own personal experiences.
