Miranda, known as Lady Miranda or My Lady to the people of the tiny rural village nearest her estate, was bored. She was of a perfectly marriageable age, but she had no desire for a husband.
An idea struck her quite by chance as she read in the enormous library, and she nearly gasped at the thought. Surely her father couldn't object to her having a maid? He was getting so old anyway that it would be too much trouble to monitor everything she did. Hastily, Mira began drafting an ad. She would submit it to the daily paper of nearby Hempford City.
In fifteen minutes, it was finished. She posted it, hoping this impossibly simple idea just might work.
