Birthday Wishes...
Athena for wisdom and guidance...may She bless us with both!

What do I want for a birthday?
I didn't ask for a phone, a car, a house, a pool, or popularity. I didn't ask for world peace. I didn't ask for my one true love, or that war would disappear from the world.
All I asked for was a 'happy birthday' and perhaps a card, with maybe some well wishes written inside. Just being happy with family is fine by me.
I suppose I could ask for those things that plague me most: such as asking for high fructose corn syrup to disappear from our food, for aspartame to be removed as a sweetener, that CAFOs would be banned, and that school food was actually good for us. I could ask that our food system be turned around, that our lives would be changed for the better, that these practices now in place would be done away with.
But I didn't ask for them. I didn't dare to hope for them. Because I knew and still know that wishing for it once or twice a year will never change a thing. I know that constantly bugging the right people about it, raising awareness, and getting out there will change things.
So next time your birthday rolls around, or Christmas, or New Year's, or whatever special days that you hold dear...don't ask for the impossible. Go out and do it. Go out and make that happen. Don't just wish for it...or just pray for it...get out there and make the difference.
