Secrets of the Lake
This is a chilling ghost story...
11 year old Miranda Smith is tagging along with her friend Skyler and her friend's mother Sally to an old abandoned lake house by the great lakes in Michigan.
Little does she know, their are secrets about the lake......
They meet a troublesome boy named Michael.
But is Michael holding a big secret from them?
No one knows......
I woke up to smelling fresh chocolate chip pancakes.
I rushed downstairs to find my mom and dad in the kitchen.
Mom was cooking pancakes while Dad was reading the newspaper.
"One or two pancakes?" my mom asked me.
One please.
She turned back around and put a small pancake on a plate. Then she handed it to me.
I quickly ate because I still wanted some time to rummage through mom's storage box in the attic.
I flipped through all the Nancy Drew and Harry Potter books.
Then, I noticed that a little note had dropped out of one.
It was in cursive, and I didn't really know how to read cursive so I tucked it in my pocket and hoped I could ask my friend later on to read it.
I heard a knock on the door, and my dog Chelsey started barking.
Skyler's mother was at the door.
"Come on in" I heard my mother saying.
"Hi Miranda." she happily said"How are you?"
Good. What brings you here?
My blue eyes looked from mom to her.
'Well, I have exciting news. Me and Skyler are going to the lake for a month and we were wondering if you would like to come.
"I'd love to!"
" You can go" my mom replied."Just be careful"
"I will mom"
I kissed her and dad and then went upstairs to pack.
When I came down, Dad helped me load my suitcase into the car and mom gave me some tips." Watch out for leeches and don't go too deep. I don't want you to drown" she advised.
I won't mom. I love you.
"Love you to"
bye.
I kissed her and walked to the car.
"Drive safe." Dad said and mom and him waved as we pulled out of the drive way.
Skyler was already in the back seat and we hugged each other.
Her mom kept her eyes glued to the road but talked to us on the way.
It took 5 hours to get their.
Around lunch time, We stopped and got some hamburgers and french fries.
Best way to quickly fill your stomach her mom told us.
We kept driving and making lots of turns until Skyler asked if we were almost their.
"We are close, about five minutes away" her mom replied.
I noticed we were no longer on a highway, but now in the counrtyside where it was nice and peaceful.
We drove for a little longer until I spotted a house that looked brand new.
It had fresh white paint and the roof looked replaced.
'Looks like they really did a good job" Sally said as she pulled up in the driveway.
Me and Skyler explored the house while Sally made dinner.
Then after we ate, we unpacked our bags and settled down to watch a movie on the television.
The end was very good, the girl realized she had been tricked and came running back to the man of her dreams.
After the movie, we roasted marshmallows and snuggled into bed.
Me and Skyler shared a room and a bed while her mother was right next to us.
We stayed up talking about what had happened since we had seen each other last time.
I told her my mother got a job being a veterinarian at a local animal hospital and she told me her brother had just got out of the hospital with a healed leg.
"He broke it tripping down some stairs"
"That's sad" I replied.
Then I heard heavy breathing.
I guess Skyler had fallen asleep.
So I pulled out "Deep and Dark and Dangerous" by Mary Downing Hamn and read the first three chapters.
I fell asleep after I got to the fourth chapter.
