Chapter 1

Prolouge

Attikis woke early that day and had left the house to find Color. Attikis and Color had been meeting secretly for months without notice. Attikis, a 15 year old, female musical performer, had fallen in love with Color, a 20 year old circus performer. The two would be shunned, even more so Attikis, if they were to be seen.

Attikis had always secretly refused to follow rules and, by meeting this older circus actor, she had broken her father's ultimate rule: never meet a man alone- older or younger.
Color, on the other hand, was never to meet a younger lady.

They had met at a ball. Color had been hired for the night to serve as a waiter and was reduced to meager, or nonexistent, tips, rich hob-snobs, and the usual "peasant" comments. He was waiting tables and, to his luck, found a young lady, eager to do wrong and to break rules. Color had found out this by just her appearance, as she had been dressed in red at a black-tie event.

When Color had been released for the night, he asked for a dance from the young lady. While they danced Color had found that this young lady was 15, had the name of Attikis, and was the daughter of a wealthy politician.

Since the ball, a mere 4 months ago, they had met, in the wee hours of the morning, to discuss their lives and if they had seen anything special in the duration of their day.

Attikis ran through the woods and, she was, once again, in fear of notice. When she reached their regular spot, she found Color in his usual circus performing clothes.

"Att, I don't have much more time here- a month at most. And you, I'm sure you have less time also, as the play you were going for, it must start soon. How can we go on never knowing if we'll see each other?" Color spoke with much fear in his voice. "We must stop seeing each other." Color had turned around so he could no longer see Attikis and the beauty of her body.

"But Color," Attikis started never to finish her sentence.

"Attikis, I'm leaving now," he turned back around, "we will not meet tomorrow or the next day- for I have put your safety at risk for too long- nor will we write. We will cease our relationship at once. And if it happens we meet again, we will be only strangers seeing each other for the first and last time. I must go now- we must get ready." Color leaned in for a gentle kiss and quickly ran off.
