Global Issues (And Other Problems)
As I told you before, this is where I'm going to bring awareness to all these issues in the world that need to be STOPPED.
Please spread the word.
Chapter 1
Shark Finning
Shark Fin Soup.
An expensive and extremely popular dish, common among the Chinese.
Now you ask- how do these shark fins come to be? Surely they must bring the shark on board, let it die, and then cut off the fins. Just like other fish.
Wrong.
The people on the ships catch the sharks, and bring them on board alive. From there, they cut off the fins, the shark still alive. Oh, and that's not all. They then throw the shark back into the water, finless, and leave it to die. The shark is left in the water, unable to move and with no chance of living. They are forced to die an excruciating painful and slow death. Sometimes they are eaten alive by other fish. And that is Fact.
Imagine you are going along on your usual day, then suddenly you are captured. From there your arms and legs are cut off, and your thrown on the floor and left to die. Or possibly eaten alive.
This doesn't just happen to, let's say, 100 sharks a year.
It is estimated that One Hundred Million (100 000 000) sharks are killed PER YEAR.
Why is shark finning so important? Why does this keep happening?
The same reason most global issues are happening.
Money.
One pound of dried shark fin can be worth $300 dollars or more. It's billions and billions of dollars coming in.
It is estimated that in only 10 short years, most species of sharks will be gone. Forever. Extinct.
And now the million dollar question - Why isn't this illegal?
Each country is to come up with their own laws about shark finning. But with the temptation of all the money, the governments often don't make the proper rules.
A large amount of Shark Finning IS illegal, but you don't often see the government doing anything about it.
Do anything you can to stop this- it can even come down to just signing petitions (http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/345/265/363/). But this NEEDS to stop.
And the world is in our hands.
If you would like to find out more, you can find Gordan Ramsay (Chef)'s documentary called "Shark Bait". I highly reccomend it.
Here are some pictures I had found online. These images may be disturbing, so don't click unless you know you can stand it:

O MY FRIGGIN GAWD! THOUSE POOR POOR SHARK-EHZ!
Nice.
I hate the Chinese for this reason. You'd think eventually with all their faking and illegal actions they'd eventually be so broke they'd stop doing it.
But no, they radiate their honey and put animal antibiotics in it. They put lead in their children's food. They cut off shark fins. They kill hundreds of whales in a year, along with those sharks.
Some days you just want to kick some of these people. >:(
Thanks for posting this, though. Really, it's good of you to do so. :)
You make a good points, but 'hating the chinese' isn't right.
By saying that, you're stereotyping all Chinese as the type that do that. Which isn't true. My best friend is Chinese, and she is as good as the rest of us. She agrees with what was written, and knows how bad shark finning is. Most chinese don't even know the truth. This isn't anything against you, just don't sterotype all chinese as what you said.
Don't hate the friggin Chinese. It's not like they're the only ones being cruel. Have you ever looked up how the chickens and cows live in the U.S?
Woah, woah, woah. I didn't mean it that way. I don't hate every Chinese person I see because of it. I just hate what they do, and what they support in their country. What their own government does to their own people. That's all. Geez, people.
I know, I know! I'm not accusing you personally. Sorry if it came across that way! I get that you only dislike the people who are doing it...I feel the same way! Soz :(
oh my god. that's sad, and discusting. >:(
this is a serious issue...it's not fair to take the lives of sharks...it's inhuman...it's violent & disgusting...
Oh. My. God.
I should not have looked at those pictures-now I'm going to have nightmares. Those poor sharks!

Okay....that's just weird.....why did you repost those two?
That's just Michael for you xD
Aww. I love sharks. The poor babies. :( And even if they killed the sharks it would be way better than to throw them back into the water after cutting off their fins! Stupid people are stupid. -.-
that's disturbing, i'm scared of sharks, but really? that's just not right.
It's disgusting what some people do to animals! >:( I think its also wrong to hate all Chinese because of it. There'd be an awful lot of hating going on if people hated others for their mistakes or the mistakes of their race.
But I DO NOT HATE all Chinese because of it! I don't see a Chinese person, whether actually Chinese or American, and hate them because of what their country allows. I hate the Chinese that do these things and endorse these things.
That's just... awful, disgusting, wrong. I don't like sharks all that much, but they shouldn't have to go through that! It's very good of you to raise awareness about this. :)
