Stereotypes PLEASE READ
Yes, I'm serious. Feel free to flame or agree. I don't much care.
Chapter 1
Stereotypes
First off, I'd just like to point out that posting a bunch of 'repost please' stories is NEVER going to change anything. Seriously.
But here we go.
STEREOTYPES ARE MADE FOR A REASON. If you do not like them, do not live down to them!
If you are blonde, be intelligent and people won't apply that stereotype to you. But unfortunately I most blondes I have met are stupid, either by choice (faking it), or because they don't try. They think being blonde is a pass on math, or on life skills. You don't want that stereotype to apply to you? Don't act dumb. Simple as that.
People have been posting about Emos and Nerds. Yeah, that's really going to help.
IF YOU ARE EMO, you are most likely going to be cutting yourself, or inflicting some other form of self-harm.
FOR YOU TO BE EMO: you wear black, you listen to a certain type of music, you act certain ways, and wear your hair certain ways. If you do not want to be labeled as emo, DON'T DO THOSE THINGS. If you are wearing a lot of black, styling your hair to match that typically associated with emos, and listen to that music, whether you like it or not you are an emo. That's the way it works. It's as simple as being called black, white, hispanic, tall, skinny, fat, or short.
Except unlike being tall or short (unless you are still in the growing stage), you can change yourself. You don't want to be labeled emo, guess what, you are going to have to change the way you do your hair, what colours you wear, and what type of music you listen to.
IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE what you are doing, then guess what?! You ARE emo, whether you like to be called that or not!
Most nerds seem to be wearing glasses, simple or old-fashioned clothing, and are obssessively interested in their subject of choice. That's because we (yeah, I'm a nerd about things), don't give two shakes about our clothes, what's in the latest gossip rag, and we don't much care about acne unless it hurts.
IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE LABELED AS A NERD, you dress differently, and do a whole host of other things differently. I don't know why you don't want to be a nerd when you are one, because Gods know the world needs us.
Stereotypes are important and useful. Depending on the things you are wearing, the people and values you associate with, and how you act towards others lets me know a bit about you before I get to know you.
You wouldn't want to get close to someone wearing gang clothes while you are on a street alone, or in a mall with your kids. You back off, because you don't know whether or not this guy/gal is in his/her gang territory. You aren't going to want to get caught in the crossfire.
This applies to everyone. You come in, wearing fashionable light coloured clothing, light makeup, latest-style hair, and giggling away with your girlfriends in your seats, then I know something about you. You come in and sulk in the corner, wearing a bunch of black with your hair in your face, then I know something about you.
What you say, do, and wear tells the world what you are. If you don't like the name we give you, YOU change, rather than telling us to 'understand' and 'accept' you. Deal with it.
But here we go.

I think some people only do some of those things, and they get labeled and others think they do the rest of that stuff and make fun of them for that. But I agree with this too. THE WORLD NEEDS NERDS!
WOO! U TELL 'EM! Lol! But seriously I think every thing you just said is ture!
I am a total nerd yet if you saw me in a crowd I would look like a cheerleader lol blonde, semi-cool clothes, lol I always make fun of cheerleaders, I agree with you for the most part. I think that being emo or a. nerd is a state of mind not a physical thing.
Well I cant remember to repost stuff but yeah everything you said is true and I dont care what cagetory they put me in,because the call me a nerd because they know Im going to be there boss someday(I take that back Im not going be the boss of some McDonalds some day)
Yes! Go get 'em! And XD for that comment about McD's. XD
Oh I finally learned how to favorite a story/quiz,I favorited this one
but i hate how some people try and BE like someone else. example: lets say theres this person who likes 'emo' stuff and 'emo' music.she always tries to look like the people in the band that she listens to and she talks about music as if its her life.and she always acts like she hates the world and wants everyone to die and acts all "anti-social" and is usually sulking in the corner.. but then when ppl call her goth or emo and then she gets all angry and pissed and starts ranting bout stereotypes
oops....sry....... i replied to the wrong comment.....
Then she can get mad. We ignore her. If she didn't want to be called those things, then she wouldn't act like that. Simple as that.
@kazmas: Wow, thank you!!! :D
OMG SO AGREE WITH THIS!!
it seriously pisses me off whenever someone always goes all dramatic about stereotypes and shit. i mean..im SERIOUSLY against stereotypes, but thats stereotypes in general, as in calling emos cutters or blondes dumb...
But there is a reason we say those things, or believe those things. It shouldn't be used as an insult, no, but there is a reason. And if those people don't want to hear those things, they can ignore the idiots who say those things, and then prove them wrong with what they do, say, and wear.
yup....its as if people who get stereotyped cant create a character of THEIR OWN that is just THEM and not someone else...like dressing up as someone from a rock/emo band or wearing mini skirts and cheerleader outfits 24/7
hi
hello
if u r reading this then u actually care
about
what i have to say...
which is....
....
NOTHING!
pass it on!!! XD
Please don't do that again. Those messages are annoying and pointless.
This really bugs me. I mean, if people are calling you emo because you like to wear black they are bullies. Sure they wont anymore if you stop wearing black and change your hair, but then your not being honest. Your lying about the stuff you like. So if people are calling you emo, they have a problem, not you. This also applys to all the other stareotypes.
Then why is it an issue? If you want to 'express' yourself (like dressing like everyone else is expressing your unique-ness, please), then you forget about them.
This is to all those people who have been posting on Quibblo about how every stereotype is just wrong and bad, and should be done away with. Bullies should be dealt with as best befits each situation, regardless of the cause of bullying.
i can agree with this too...but i think she was talking about the people who overdo i.
when they dress up as someone from some band they like, theyre not being themselves, theyre just trying to be the person from that band. if they copy some "emo" hairstyle and dye their hair black so it can look like someone else's. that's just being a poser.if they were being themselves, they would have created their own personality, their own style, and basically their own image that represents themselves...
If they were being a poser that means they like being called by their stereotype.
Um well because when people call you names its very offensive. Have you ever been there? I'm sure if you had to deal with bullies and didn't know how to put up with them, I'm sure you'd understand. It is very, very bad. You know, alot of people have committed suicide because they have been getting bullied. And some people just don't know how to make it stop. Some people don't get what they are doing wrong. Some people are being just like everyone else and still being bullied.
Yes, I've been bullied, and it wasn't good at all. I understand that. But saying that stereotypes are all negative and wrong isn't true, and that's all this is about; not bullying, not anything else. I understand your views, I do, I get it. But this is about when people don't like being associated with certain groups. Stereotypes are necessary, good things. But like ANYTHING else in the world, there are people who will take it to the worst extreme.
im not gonna say that theres any kind of stereotypes that i think are actually GOOD. if theres 2 things i hate most in this world, its racism and stereotypes. but just like u said, some people ASK for it (getting stereotyped) and most of the time they dont even know theyre doing it.
i cant say that this is right or wrong. cuz everyone has a different view about it...theres no fact because there will ALWAYS be at least 1 person arguing from the other side....
Yes, there will always be someone arguing about it. But this isn't about the bullying or any of that. It's just about stereotypes. And it's just looking at a person and judging from what they're wearing, doing, and what they're acting like whether or not I want to be near that person, or try to be a friend with them. We gave those judgements names as we saw patterns, and now people don't like the names for whatever reason. That's all a stereotype is. But people will be human, and there are jerks
in the world about every little thing. They get a kick out of taking things to an extreme and being rude about it. And it's the rest of the world's job to grow up and leave puny little whiners like them behind in the dust. :)
