Bullying. Be against it.
Hey guys so I wrote this story about bullying. It is a serious matter because everyday people are taking their own lives because of other peoples words. Re post this please, but I have one request- think before you speak or act.
Chapter 1
SuperSlySlytherin is against bullying.
“Mom I told her I was sorry!” She kept nagging me about this girl I ‘bullied’.
“Saying sorry and walking away isn’t apologizing. You need to talk to her, explain why you did those things.”
“How am I supposed to explain to her that she’s weird!?” With that I slammed my bedroom door and stayed there for the rest of the day. I don’t know why I bullied Levi Parkson, but she was just weird. She always had her greasy black hair in pigtails and wore really ugly clothes. Levi had a really high and nasally voice and when she spoke I would call her a freak and say nobody likes you. All of my friends would laugh, maybe that is why I did it to gain power and social status. I went to bed skipping my homework and dinner.
I woke up the next morning still feeling mad at my mother. We ate our cereal in silence and drove to school again in silence. When I got to school I found my friends or as most people call them ‘my followers’ and we discussed Levi. I noticed something wasn’t right. Something was missing, no somebody was missing. There were only four of us not five.
“Who is missing?” They all stopped and stared at me.
“I said who is missing?”
“Gwen is. She told us that she realized bullying was wrong and she wants no part in it anymore.”
“Loser. We aren’t bullying just showing who’s boss!” They rapidly nodded in agreement and then Levi walked by. We did the classic ‘punch her books out of her hands and step on them’ move.
“Watch it Levi!” I snapped at her. She just accepted it and picked up her books. I felt something. Was it hunger? Happiness? No it was pity. Pity for the girl who was picking her books up off the ground. No that had to be wrong I mean how could I feel bad for such a weirdo? My friends and I went our separate ways and met up again at lunch. We got our lunches and sat down. One of my friends, Claire, was talking about how she did something super bad at her old school. It was a lie and I knew it because they always try to make up stories to impress me. Somebody pointed out that Levi was coming. We had a plan so when she came out of the lunch line somebody would trip her and then it went from there. A little voice was telling me not to do it in my head, but I ignored it just like I do every time I do something bad. Then I heard crying and laughing coming from a mob of students by the lunch line. Darn I must have missed it! I walked over to the circle and made my way to the front. Levi was on the ground covered in spaghetti and pudding, sobbing loudly. The lunch ladies came to get her and I noticed something on the ground. I walked over and picked up a necklace that I read out loud. “You are beautiful no matter what they say. Who gave this to you? Your mom?” Everybody busted out laughing and I held back my laugh. She ran over and grabbed the necklace and said something loud enough for me to hear.
“How could you do this to me every day!” She snatched the necklace and followed the lunch ladies out. The rest of the day went pretty bad. I kept thinking about her horror struck face when I read the necklace or the globs of pudding spaghetti sauce stuck in her hair. I knew the necklace really belonged to her grandma who had died in sixth grade. We were in ninth grade now and she still wears it, every day.
Surprisingly I didn’t get called down to the office today to discuss the lunch incident. I figured today would be a good day to go to her house and apologize. I felt pity and sorrow for her, something I never felt before. I could sense I was pushing her a little too close to the edge and we needed to start over. After school I walked home and grabbed a snack. I sat down at the kitchen table eating my apple and thinking of the best way to apologize. It was a little past an hour later so I decided to head off. As I was walking to her house I felt extremely nervous and when I rounded the corner I saw a bunch of ambulances and police cars. I kept walking and when I got to her I asked her mother who I thought was some random lady where Levi was and that I needed to apologize. She took one look at me and smacked me as hard as she could.
“You! You killed my daughter! You made her want to die! And she did! Are you glad she’s gone now and out of your way!” I was frozen as they wheeled out a beautiful girl laying on a cot with a hole in her heart. After that I passed out.
I woke up in a hospital bed. My mom came rushing to my side.
“M-mom I-I-I’m so so sorry!” I was sobbing with all that was left in me.
“They are having a ceremony at school for her in an hour I think you should go and make a speech.” I nodded in agreement. After the doctor gave me the ok we headed for the house. When we got there I put on a black dress and walked to school. The whole way there I kept thinking how I was only 14 and I pushed a girl to murder herself. I cried the whole way there and I arrived backstage and was handed a microphone. I walked to the center of the stage and began talking from the heart.
“Levi Parkson was a smart and beautiful girl and because of me nobody got to see that. I’m so sorry Levi for the way I treated you and everything I did. I’m sorry I ever made you kill yourself and made you that hurt. I also want to say sorry to Levi’s parents, family and friends although she can’t hear us and nobody can reverse what happens I am so sorry and I wish you never died Levi. I came to your house to apologize and you were gone. I’m so sorry.”
I ran off the stage and ran home crying my heart out and by the time my parents got home I had a hole in my heart just like Levi Parkson did.
