Chapter 1

Flashbacks Always Suck

I was laying in my bedroom on top of purple zebra striped comforter. I hated nights like these. Why? Because all they brought back were distant memories that hurt to think about. As I laid here with nothing to do since I had finished my homework and didn't feel like reading or watching TV or listening to music. It left me alone with my thoughts and memories. Left me to think about the time that I was left behind by my best friend or at least I thought so.

-Flashback-

Two Years Ago,

"I promise that I'll be back to come and visit you. Maybe I'll even sneak you away in my suitcase," joked my best friend and first love, Taylor Lautner.
"You better come back or else, I think I might die here without. You should sneak me away in your suitcase. I wouldn't mind the cramped space and the lack of air," I joked back as a smile came across both of our faces.
"Oh then by the time that we made it to Los Angeles, you will have died from lack of air. I wouldn't want my best friend to die because of me," said Taylor as he pulled me into a hug and I breathed in his wonderful scent.
"Yeah well if you don't want that to happen then you better come back for me," I said as I felt a wave of sadness at the realization that my best friend was leaving me behind.
"Oh. You won't die without me here," said Taylor as he let me go even though I didn't want him to.
"Hey Taylor! We have to go now. I know that you want to stay and talk to Cheyenne but we have to leave now if you want to catch your flight," said his dad.
"Okay dad! I'll be there in a second," yelled Taylor as he looked deeply into my eyes as if trying to tell me what his lips couldn't. "Cheyenne, you know that you are my best friend in the entire world, right?"
"Yeah, I know. Why are you asking," I questioned as he took both of my hands in his.
"Because I wanted to tell you before I left that I love you," said Taylor as he brought my right hand up to his cheek and it was burning up like he had a fever.
"I love you too," I said as I looked at him with concern in my eyes because he usually never acted this way around me.
"No, I mean that I love you more than just friends. I love you like I would love for you to be my girlfriend," explained Taylor as it came together in my head.
"Oh. I love you too in that way. I mean I've always had a crush on you. I was just scared to tell," I said.
"Really? This is amazing. I can't believe that I finally found a girl who loves me just like I love her," said Taylor as this sentence confused me.
"Wait a second. Why did you wait until you were leaving to tell me that you love me," I questioned.
"I don't know. I just felt like it was the right time to tell you," said Taylor.
"Well it's not. You are leaving me behind and you tell me that you love me now. You could have told me a year ago but you chose now. Is it because you didn't want to start a relationship with me," I asked as I pulled my hands away from him roughly.
"No, it's not that. I just. I don't know. I wasn't thinking," said Taylor as he looked hurt that I pulled away from him.
"Taylor! It's time to go! Tell Cheyenne bye and let's go," shouted his dad.
"Well then. Cheyenne, I have to go. I love you. Don't forget that. I promise that I'll come back for you," promised Taylor before he walked away after giving me a kiss on the forehead.
"I love you too, Taylor. I always will," I whispered mostly to myself because Taylor was already out of earshot.

-Flashback Over-

That was the last time that I saw Taylor. He never did come back for me. He only came back home a year later to introduce his friends to his new girlfriend Lily Collins and for a visit. I wasn't his friend anymore. He made that very clear when he ignored me when I saw him at the mall with Lily and our old friends. I tried talking to him but he acted as if I wasn't alive anymore even though Lily told him that his best friend was there; he answered with a snarky remark about how his best friend wasn't here anymore. That moment in time crushed me. I became closed off from people because I was scared that they would do what Taylor did to me.

Taylor was now famous. He was playing Jacob Black in the Twilight movies. I use to love those books until he had to go ruin it for me like he was ruining everything for me nowadays. He was acting like a jerk that I didn't know nor did I did I want to know. I couldn't stand seeing his pictures in magazines or on girl's shirt or just about anywhere because it hurt too much. It literally made my heart hurt and it instantly made me cry. I know that I sound like a pathetic little girl. But I am. At least I can admit it unlike some people in this world. Anyways let's get on with the story.

"Cheyenne Demetria Harmony Hope Setzer! Get down here for dinner! We have a surprise for you," yelled my mom, Anna from downstairs. I sighed to myself as I got up from bed and shaked the distant, hurtful memories of a boy that I once loved and called my best friend.
"Okay, mom. I'm coming," I yelled back as I recovered from the dizziness that took over when I stood up too fast and walked towards my bedroom door. I had painted my bedroom door purple since it was my favorite color. I walked down the stairs slowly since I knew that my mom wasn't really finished with dinner, she just said that she was. I walked into the kitchen not really expecting what she meant by a surprise for me. No, it wasn't a surprise. It was more like a gift from hell. There sitting in my kitchen in was my ex-best friend and new found enemy, Taylor Lautner.
"Mom, what in the hell is he doing here," I asked as I stopped walking and pointed in the direction of where Taylor was sitting.
"Cheyenne! Do not talk that way in front of our guests. They are here to visit. I thought that you would be happy to see your best friend," said my mom.
"No, mom. He is not my best friend anymore. He burned that bridge long ago. Now I just want to rip his throat out or better yet, his heart just like he did to me," I said through clenched teeth.
"Cheyenne....," Taylor started saying but I cut him off.
"No, Taylor. Don't you dare say my name or anything that relates to me. I'm done with you. My name doesn't belong in your vocabulary anymore," I snapped as I felt some tears threatening to fall but I blinked them back before I stormed out of the room.

Flashbacks would always suck for me but they were better than my reality.....
