Heart_And_Seoul: 10-14-2011 at 2:10 PMOccupy Wall Street aims to bring down our government and bring chaos to America, thinking that this will somehow be better than what we have, rather than reforming the government to what it was supposed to be. You will often see things like "I'm the 99%" That's referring to people who want the change to happen, though it's far from 99% of the American population. This movement is dressed up to look good, but it isn't.
Heart_And_Seoul: 10-14-2011 at 2:12 PMMainly fueled by ignorant college graduates, deep in debt, they protest in the hopes of getting that debt cancelled, under the guise of making things better for the citizens of America.
Lich_Money: 10-14-2011 at 3:13 PMI think that there's pretty much nothing in the news actually describing WHY they are there, and thus I can't know what to make of them.
HOWEVER, the "99%" thing does NOT, in fact, refer to the amount of people who want change. It refers to the 99% of people who control the minority of U.S. GDP.
Lich_Money: 10-14-2011 at 3:15 PMThough, I live about a half-hour from New York. So I plan on getting to the city and seeing for myself what the h*ll they're actually saying.
Lich_Money: 10-14-2011 at 3:17 PMThough, I must self-edit. "The minority of U.S. GDP" isn't quite correct. It refers to the bottom 99% of income-makers that make disproportionately less than the top 1%. But it's more like top .1%, when you look into it.
Ithilwen: 10-14-2011 at 4:51 PMIt won't get anywhere. America is too big and too strong to let a small band of rebels tear it down.
