Chapter 1

Chapter I

"VIOLET!!!!" a voice shouted, scaring the daylights out of me and making me jump 18 ft. in the air. When I fell back down to the ground, I was giggling like crazy. I had played a really sweet joke on Tony DiNozzo, a member of the NCIS. By sweet, I mean I had put globs of white chocolate into DiNozzo's NCIS cap. After putting the delicious stuff in, I had ran and laid down on a bench nearby the crime scene here in Northfolk.

I heard Tony growl angrily. I caught a glimpse of white chocolate dripping down his face and head from underneath the cap. He started stomping toward me, face tomato red with both embarrassment and anger. Still laughing, I scrambled up and started running off, and Tony followed close behind.

The crime scene was at the beach a few feet away. A bloody skeleton had been found by a couple who had been walking down the beach early this morning. The skeleton was quite close to the shore, and I had figured earlier that he had been washed up onto the sand by the strong waves. Dr. Donald (or as me and Gibbs like to call him, Ducky) Mallard, and his assistant, Jimmy Palmer were already there, examining the body. Gibbs was standing a few feet away, giving instructions to Agents Ziva David and Tim McGee.

"GIBBS!!!" I called, and he turned around to see me running toward him, his eyebrows raised. "Tony's chasing me again!" I called to him with a smile. "You put chocolate in my HAT!" Tony shouted at me. "White chocolate, to be exact." I called back to him.

Because of my speedy running, I accidently ran past Gibbs and toward the body. My eyes popped out of my head in fear and I tried skidding to a halt. Once I finally halted an inch away from the body, I turned and ran back to Gibbs, fear written all over my face. S-S-S-SKELETON!!!!" I shouted as I ran. I reached Gibbs and practically climbed up him like a cat speedily climbing up a tree. I clung onto Gibbs, shaking like a leaf, eyes wide with fear, and teeth chattering.

"It's just a SKELETON, V!" Gibbs cried, trying to get himself out of my tight clinging. "I DON'T CARE!" I cried back. Gibbs finally pushed me down to the ground and he stepped out of my clinging. Once he was out, I immediately scrambled up and saluted like a marine. Gibbs gave me "the look" and I put my hand down.

"You need to go home, V. If you stick around with us and the body any longer, you'll go nuts." he told me, walking toward the crime scene. I fake gasped and ran to catch up with him. "But I never go crazy with you guys around." I told him, jumping up and down while walking alongside him the whole way. He gave me "the look" again, and I gave up and stopped jumping. "Fine, I'll leave." I sighed and started heading toward my motorcycle.

My parents died in a fire when I was 6, so Gibbs took me in and treated me like his own daughter. Like the one he had loved and lost 15 years ago. sigh. Gibbs had bought me my own motorcycle when I was 12, and I had been riding it ever since.

Slightly disappointed on not staying near the NCIS, I hopped onto my motorcycle and drove to my house. Even though Gibbs took me in, I still lived in the old house I had grown up in. Gibbs didn't mind, besides, he had said, his house was pretty small, and that all he ever worked on while he was there was his boat he named Kelly, after his daughter.

I have Necrophobia, which is why I freaked out at the crime scene. I have had Necrophobia ever since I was a little girl, which was after my parents' death. Non-decomposed bodies I can handle, but skeletons, better get me out of there before I go crazy and start freaking out. Me and skeletons, we do not get along very well. At all.

I was now a few blocks away from home. Little did I know what was awaiting for me there. In my room.
