Please Read This - What This Is About .. Well It Honestly Saved My Life.
Today, Norbert Georget spoke to me.
What he said, probably has saved my life and many of my fellow peers life.
Below is the link to the video I was shown today. I STRONGLY WARN YOU THAT IT IS VERY DISTURBING. I CRIED THROUGHOUT A BIG PART OF IT AND THERE IS SCENES OF BLOOD AND SCREAMING AND CRYING.

^^ It's about three girls who are texting while driving. The driver survives but kills her two best friends and a couple.
Chapter 1
Please read
You're probably thinking, how can what a man says save someones life?
It's simple. As students, we want the truth, and we want the reality of things.
Well, our request was answered and I'm not going to lie, it was disturbing and gruesome.
I don't know about you guys, but I know people who drink and do drugs. I've only drank once and will never do it again. Nothing bad happened when I drank as I was with a friend and her mom was there too. But others are not so fortunate.
I'll be open with you right now. I cried and bawled my eyes out at this assembly. It reminded me of people I've known who have passes away and of my Uncle whom I did not get to meet because a drunk driver took his life.
Norbert talked about how it's OK not to drink. I know this. He talked about how it's OK not to do drugs, how it's OK not to text and drive.
But he also showed us, with permission from the families, photos of real crash sites. I saw the blood on the vehicles. In one photo, I saw a mans arm sticking out from underneath a rolled car. He died instantly.
In other photos, he showed us pictures of the bodies of people who had died because their vehicle caught on fire.. Most were burned to nothing but black soot and bones. But one-you could still see his face..and the blood. You could see their eyes in some photos.
These images will forever be stuck in my head. As will the dramatization of a girl screaming. Even though it wasn't a real accident, the image and screams are stuck in my head.
Norbert also showed us scenes from Death By Jib. Jib is another name for crystal m3th and trust me... You don't want to go down that path. It's terrible...One man had said in the video, ".. You'll go crazy. You'll die but you'll go crazy first."
I don't know whether this will change anyone's mind about drinking or doing drugs or being in a gang but please, think of this. Don't let yourself die because of these choices. Everyone has a choice. Everyone has the potential to be great and to go far in life.
We are not born winners and we are not born losers. We're born CHOOSERS.
Please think about this.

I understand what you saw is quite honestly bad. I've lost family to drunk drivers.
But it IS okay to drink. Having a glass of red wine with your meal saves you from many of the main problems that are actually killing people today--ecoli, and samonella (sp?) to name two. One beer is better for you than a soda, contains no sugar or high fructose corn syrup, and has been drunk in the place of bad water for centuries. Drinking and driving is never okay, but drinking is OK when done sensibly.
I get what you're saying but if you've ever been to a presentation by Norbert..well I never want to pick up a drink of any kind. I know it's OK to drink as long as it's done sensibly but after this.. after losing so many people I love and care about to drunk drivers..It's hard to get my point across through a computer. I cried throughout this presentation and I'm not ashamed to say it. But you had to have been at this assembly to truly know why I never want to touch an alcoholic drink again.
See, that's not okay. Frightening people away from something that is quite good for you is never alright. I've been there, heard and seen those types of things that make me cry, but don't go to the absolute extreme immediately. Alcoholic drinks like wine can be used to lower blood pressure rather than pills--like the bloodthinners that killed my great-grandmother, since she wouldn't touch an alcoholic beverage. Instead she bled to death internally. That's the problem there, and telling everyone
never to drink is something that needs dealing with. My teacher taught us that one sip of alcohol will make us permanent alcoholics--just flat out lying.
The truth about alcohol needs to be taught. Unlike smoking or drugs, it is beneficial for you, every time. But just like you can die from drinking too much water at one time, or dying of obesity and its complications, it needs to be in moderation like everything else in life. That's what needs to be taught rather than scaring you away from it.
It's not that they're scaring me away from the drink. They're scaring me away from ever getting drunk. I'm sorry to hear about your great-grandmother but in a case like that, I'd do what I'd need to save my life. I want to make a difference in the world and I don't want to be drinking while I do that. I'm only 15, I may drink every now and then when I'm older but for now, I don't need alcoholic drinks.
I agree a bit with DarkShines_ it's not okay to scare people into things, even getting drunk. They should teach you about the bad things like getting in crashes and things like that, but they should also be talking about other things. More "realistic" things persay. Like about sex. I dont' know about your school, but mine is all "abstinence abstinence abstinenece". Now in what high school is that going to work? What they should be doing is promoting safe ways of doing that to prevent pregnancy
and what not. Same with drinking. Schools should teach that yes, you shouldn't drink. But if you do then call this number for a taxi to get home or things like that. Just preaching about the extremes normally doesn't do anyone good. I'm sure not everyone was effected by that movie like you were, although it's a good thing to hear it got you thinking!
That video is very touching and sad. I wish these things didn't happen, especially when innocent people are killed.
And, also, I have to ask this question! Are you welsh?
Who me? I'm not Welsh.
& I guess I should have been more specific. When they told us it's okay not to drink, they meant that it's okay to go to a party and not drink if you don't want to. It's OK to say no to being pressured to drink. Same goes with the logo It's OK Not To Do Drugs. I hope that clarified some things up.
Yeah (:
Cool! I'm welsh! XD
Glad to do that :)
Sweet :P I'm Canadian :DD
Heeheee XD
I live by a field of sheep... how stereotypical XD
Haaahaa that's epic! :)
I have flocks of meeses who walk around my neighbourhood xP
Hahaha! XD Go stereotypes!
Well, actually, the field has cows in it now but oh well... XD
This is a really touching story. I'm glad u wer taught about the consequences of being drunk. But I agree, @ the assembly, they shud hav told people what 2 do if they wer ever @ a party and DID get drunk. If ur ever @ a party with a group of friends, and u plan 2 drink, ther shud always b @ least 1 person who doesn't drink anything and can drive every1 home. some1 every1 trusts.
They did talk about that. I don't think I could truly get my point across about how much this presentation touched me and others unless you actually attend one yourself. I just can't fully explain everything that they talked about there.
Haha yeah. :) It really was a great presentation. I can see the different sides of how people view this but I don't think I could actually get my point across of how I know that it's okay to drink sometimes, but like not get drunk and if you do, always have a safe ride home. I know that but I don't want to drink. I've lost too many friends ti drunk drivers and such.
Ya, I get it- some things u just can't explain on the web, ppl need 2 really experiance them. :)
