Chapter 1

Prologue (10 years before Fate of the Jedi) Setting: Tatooine. Jaida's age: 6

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...

(This might seem like a long chapter, but bear with me, there's just some information I have to work into this one)
Jaida was laughing, walking home with her friend Kalen Varu (pronounced like Colin, just spelled different) to her brother's home, who she lives with. "Bye, Kal, see you tomorrow!" She said, walking into her house. "Bye, Jade!" he replied casually. The door opened, and Jaida called out "I'm home!" "Alright Jade, go get ready for dinner." Lenea, her brother's wife said, her voice underlined with annoyance. Jaida did as she was told, and when she left, her brother came from the other room. "Is Jaida home yet?" "Yes, she is." Lenea wrinkled her nose slightly. All he ever thought about was Jaida! At this rate, they'll never have a family! He sat down at the table, and Jaida came in and sat down also. "Jade!" He said, smiling. "How was your day?" "Good! Kalen and I went out, and you know what we saw? A Jedi Knight! Or maybe he was a Master... anyway, he landed his ship just beyond the Dune Sea!" Jaida was talking faster than Lightspeed. "Why would a Jedi Knight be on Tatooine?" Lenea asked. "I don't know, but he was there!" Just then, they heard blaster shots outside. Jaida's brother stood up, and went outside, grumbling about "Tatooinian savages not letting him eat his meal". Lenea tentatively trailed behind him to the door, and Jaida walked swiftly behind her, her hand on the small blaster she had gotten for her recent sixth birthday. Lenea watched as her husband walk outside, and she screamed when a Tuskan Raider shot him where he stood. "EEE EE EEEE!!" The Raider whooped, holding his weapon high above his head. Lenea ran out to her dying husband, and she was also shot. Jaida ignored the noise the Raiders' banthas were making, and she walked out.

I was walking over the hills of sand. I forgot how hot it was on Tatooine! I hadn't been here in years. As I reached the top, I saw home that resembled Uncle Owen's moisture farm, heck, for all I knew, it probably was. I heard Sand Person let out a whoop of joy, telling me he had recently killed somebody. I saw a man drop dead where he stood, and a woman rushed out to him, and she received his fate. Then, a young girl, not much older if not the same age as my son, Ben, walked out of the house, her hand on a small blaster on her belt. The Sand Person screamed "EEE EE EEEE!!" By this time, I had started running down the hill. And he shot. The girl did something that made me stop running. She covered her hands over her face and.... the blaster bolt. It DISAPPEARED. The Force swallowed it about an inch before it hit her hand. She then grabbed her little blaster and shot at the creature, and he dropped. She walked over to where the man lay, and dropped her blaster in the sand, and sunk to her knees, and she burried her head in his chest. I then started walking again. I reached the dead man and said hello to alert her of my presance. She followed the sound of my voice and looked up at me, and smiled, just slightly. "My friend Kalen Varu and I saw you land your ship when we were out walking. Are you a Jedi Knight or Master?" I smiled. "I am a Master. What's your name?" She looked down at the ground. "I'm Jaida. Jaida Dajak. This was my brother, Jaiken." She motioned at the dead man on the ground, who was at least 12 years her elder. "I don't know why those Tuskan Raiders shot him. They don't just open fire like that." I didn't know how to respond, so I did my duty as a Jedi. I asked her questions about her Force abilities. I got down on my knees so I could into her vibrant green eyes when I spoke. "Jaida, has any other odd things happend to you? Like how you made that blaster bolt disappear?" Jaida was now taking things out of Jaiken's pockets, such as a comlink. "Well, sometimes a man comes and talks to me, but he shimmers.... anyway, he calls himself Anakin Skywalker." this intrigued me. Why would my father appear to young Tatooinian girl? "What does he say to you?" Jaida pulled some Credits out of Jaiken's pocket, though why a man would have Credits in the Outer Rim is beyond me. "He gives me advice, mostly. He talks to Kalen too." Her friend has Force ability too? "Jaida, do you think you might be able to take me to see Kalen?" Jaida walked over to the lady and snatched a necklace of her neck and replied "Sure. There isn't anything left here now." Jaida tied the necklace around her wrist as a bracelet. I noted that the necklace resembled the one already around her neck. I followed Jaida and asked "Jaida, why did you take her necklace? And where did you get the one around YOUR neck?" She smiled, and said "Kalen made me my necklace. He said it is a sign of our friendship and will bring me good fortune. Lenea's necklace was my mother's, but Jaiken gave it to Lenea as a gift when she died. I felt that it belonged more to me as my mother's daughter." "What happened to your parents? Why did you live with your brother?'' "My father was never round much, Jaiken told me he couldn't stay in one place for too long, I'm not sure why. Mom died a couple years ago, so Jaiken took it opon himself to take care of both of us. Then he married Lenea. I had the feeling that she didn't like me very much.'' Then she changed the subject and said "You never told me your name." "My name is Luke Skywalker." Her eyes lit up "Anakin talks about a son and daughter sometimes! Are you his son?" "Yes, but I never met him until I was an adult." I was surprised how energetic this girl was. Somehow she could tell I didn't imeansely want to talk about my father; or what he became, and dropped it. Another sign of Force potential. I looked up at the duel suns; the sky was now orange. We won't be able to make it back to the Dune Sea in time. I assumed we had made it to Kalen Varu's house, because as I was studying the sky as I had years before, she was yelling "Kal! KAL!!" A boy Jaida's age who had blond hair and brown eyes yelled "Jade!" Then he looked at me, and said "Why are you with the Jedi?" "Well, it's a, uh, long story, but Kalen, can I talk to your mother?" I asked. "Sure." He walked me and Jaida inside. A lady stood up and greeted Jaida, who was obviously very familiar with her. "Hi Ms. Varu!" Then she acknowledged me and said "This is my friend Luke. He's a Jedi." "I see." "Ms. Varu," I said, and I smiled. "I need to tell you a quick story." "Alright. Kalen, why don't you take Jaida and go outside and play? It won't be long." Kalen went out the door, with Jaida trailing behind him. I explained what happened at the Dajak home and my converstion with Jaida. "So, I have a suspition that Jaida and your son have Force abbility. I am now going to ask your permission to bring Jaida and Kalen to Coruscant to have them trained as Jedi." Kalen's mother looked out the window at her son and a tear ran down her cheak, and then her gaze shifted back to my face. "I can't believe that happened to Jaiken. He was a very good friend of mine. And he would want Jaida to leave Tatooine. He hated being stuck on this 'dustball' because it holds.... memories of his childhood, and he wanted Jaida to be able to have a fresh start. The Dajak children had a very abussive childhood. I hereby give my permission to take Kalen and Jaida to Coruscant to become Jedi and to learn the ways of the Force." I nodded. "Thank you. I know it's hard to give away your son." I stood up, and Ms. Varu stood up and walked putside to explain to them what would happen. I could hear them chanting "We're going to be Jedi! We're going to be Jedi!"

Mom and I were waiting for Dad to come home. I was sitting in my favorite spot, reading, while Mom was sitting next to me, bored, waiting for the return of her husband. Then her comlink buzzed, and her eyes lit up and she answered. This, being more intresting than my reading, I put down my holoreader and started to listen. My father's voice come through the comlink. "I'll be home soon, I was on Tatooine. I need your opinion on something." Mom looked intrigued, and replied "O.K. I love you." "I love you too." She ended the comunication. I went back to reading. About a half hour later, Dad walked through the door and I stood up, and noticed there were two other children my age trailing behind him. "Who are these children?" Mom asked. "What I needed your opinion on," Dad replied. He made jestures to them as he introduced them. "This is Jaida," He moved his arm in the direction of the tan girl with long brown hair and green eyes. "And this is Kalen," His arm moved in the other direction. I didn't quite know it yet, but I had just met the people who would become my best friends.
